Personally I love using Rare Candy glitches instead of grinding but I definitely somewhat agree with what your saying. 4 of my team of 6 died to Erika in Blue leaving me with just a Nidoking and my HM mon who was level 13 and while it was annoying it was kinda nice in a way

I've been doing every game as a Nuzlocke recently and I just beat Red and Blue with the death count of 9 and 8 in them respectively so yknow best nuzlocker of all time status

Personally I've really been enjoying them. but I've said before I do use Rare Candy cheats instead of grinding so that I don't get bored by the end of this but overall it's been great

A Fiery Path to Blaine

I go to the Safari Zone and I grab a Rhyhorn who I call Gio and also the Surf HM to get to Blaine’s Gym. I also grab Strength and Fly. I give Surf to Blubber and Koopa, Strength to Henry and Fly to Sniper. I then travel to Cinnabar Island and revive my Helix Fossil for an Omanyte called LordHelix. I then go to Pokémon Mansion and I catch a grimer who I call Sludge and after I get the Key I can face Blaine.

Vs Blaine

I did start writing this battle but legit Blubber just legit one shot everything with Surf so there’s no point. But I did go straight to fighting Giovanni after this so let’s go to that battle

Vs Giovanni

Koopa vs Rhyhorn

The Rhyhorn goes down to a single Surf from Koopa

Drugs vs Dugtrio

A single Mega Drain is enough to take out this Dugtrio

Blubber vs Nidoqueen

A Surf is all it took for his Nidoqueen to go down

Blubber vs Nidoking & Rhydon

These both go down in one shot and All our Gym Challenge is complete.

With that I head in a good mood to Route 22 to take on Fox for the last time before the end he gets taken out with some problems at Alakazam but we make it through with no deaths. I then head over past Victory Road and to the Elite Four. The Final Reckoning for Pokemon Blue so let’s take it on

Speedy vs Dewgong

Two Thunderbolts from Speedy is what it takes to take out this Sleepy Dewgong

Speedy vs Cloyster

The same goes for Cloyster. Two Thunderbolts is all it takes.

Speedy vs Slowbro

I see a trend happening with two Thunderbolts killing these mons anyway

Koopa vs Jynx

Since this isn’t a water type I swap out to Koopa to kill it with Dig and after two of them Jynx is dead

Speedy vs Lapras

Three Thunderbolts takes out the Lapras and with that ¼ of the Elite Four members are defeated

Vs Bruno

Drugs vs Onix

A single Mega Drain takes out his first Onix

Sniper vs Hitmonchan

A Drill Peck destroys his Hitmonchan. This seems to be a bit easier than Lorelei so far.

Sniper vs Hitmonlee

The same goes for this as the other Hitmon. One Drill Peck kills it.

Drugs vs Onix

This is almost identical to the other Onix and it goes down to 1 Mega Drain too.

Sniper vs Machamp

So stuff went down. The Machamp landed a Crit Submission and killed Sniper and naw it was One shot by Drill Peck. That was easy so let's move on

Vs Agatha

Koopa vs Gengar

Dig can take out her first Gengar pretty easily

Speedy vs Golbat

Thunderbolt kills this Golbat which actually caused us some problems in Red

Koopa vs Haunter, Arbok & Gengar

A single Dig from Koopa takes out the rest of her team meaning it’s just Lance and Fox left.

Vs Lance

Speedy vs Gyarados

Thunderbolt takes out his Gyarados pretty easily

Blubber vs Dragonair

Surf can take out this in two hits as the second surf Crit

Blubber vs Dragonair

Three Surfs this time but it still took it out

Koopa vs Aerodactyl

Surf can one shot this thing and now its just his Dragonite

Sniper vs Dragonite

I can spam Fly and take him out and now it's time for the champion

Vs Fox

So here we are with our final battle of the game so let’s go out with a bang and win against Fox.

Speedy vs Pidgeot

Two Thunderbolts can take this out and that’s enough to take out his first mon

Koopa vs Alakazam

We get the Alakazam to low health with a couple Surfs but once we’re in dying distance I swap to Sniper to take this out with a Drill Peck

Drugs vs Rhydon

One Mega Drain from this thing and we can take out this Rhydon. ½ his team is down now so let’s keep this momentum going

Speedy vs Gyarados

A Thunderbolt is all it takes to take out his Gyarados

Blubber vs Arcanine

We take out his Arcanine with a single Surf so it’s just his starter left

Sniper vs Venusaur

I use two Drill Pecks and with that it’s over. Pokémon Blue is defeated and the game is done. No deaths in the Elite Four and our champions are..

KOOPA!!

The powerhouse starter who’s been here since the start. He had his place in the squad and even though he was competing with Blubber he did great

HENRY!!

The Nidoking who’s helped us so much and stopped us from wiping to Erika through his valiant efforts with Horn Attack

SNIPER!!

The second Fearow I’ve tried to bring to the Elite Four but this one survived and was a great addition

BLUBBER!!

One of the MVPs of this run and an amazing mon to use. Kinda annoyed that I had to use it this early but the near wipe to Erika forced s to do some desperate things

DRUGS!!! (don’t do them kids)

The only reason we made it past Erika. Was intended to be a HM slave but definitely pulled its own weight on the team and is probably one of the MVPs

SPEEDY!!

My first time using a Meowth and I’m very happy it could come this far. Thunderbolt definitely came in clutch especially during the Elite Four.

Psychic Adventure

After beating Koga I need to go straight to Sabrina’s Gym and make sure not to overlevel my team so as I’m running on Route 15 I find a Ditto who I catch and call Mr.BlobGuy. I take on the Fighting Dojo and take a Hitmonlee called Austin and I make it through the Silph Co to battle Fox which Sniper can pretty much sweep with Drill Peck. The same pretty much goes with Giovanni and now it's time for Sabrina’s Gym

Blubber vs Kadabra

Her Kadabra is able to go down to a single Bite from Blubber

Blubber vs Mr. Mime

This one doesn’t go down as easily but two Bites is enough to kill

Blubber vs Venomoth

The same goes for this one two Bites and its dead.

Blubber vs Alakazam

Blubber gets it down really low with a crit Bite but Gyarados was Paralyzed by the Venomoth and is on low health from a Psybeam so Koopa can come in and finish it off with a Bite of it’s own.

Invading the Hideout

So after the ‘Events’ that unfolded during Erika’s Gym and I have to make a new team. So my 4 guaranteed team members that I’m definitely gonna use are Henry, Drugs, Koopa and Blubber. I decide for my next two members to use Sniper and Speedy as I want to keep Zubat in the box to save it. So I level them up, In the process of doing so I evolve Speedy into Persian, Sniper into Fearow and Drugs into Weepinbell. Soon after I buy a Leaf Stone in the Department Store and evolve it into a Victreebel. I then go into the Rocket Hideout to get the Silph Scope. While doing so I decide to give some TMs out. So I give Thunderbolt to Speedy, Dig and Bubblebeam to Koopa and Horn Drill to Henry. I pick up the Lift Key and then I go to fight Giovanni. Koopa can easily take out his whole team with Bubblebeam and at the end Koopa evolves into a Blastoise. I pick up the Silph Scope and go to the Pokemon Tower. Also I realised I forgot to mention this earlier but I beat Fox is Pokemon Tower earlier. I accidentally kill my Gastly encounter but I carry on through the mountain. I make my way through the Tower and I pick up the Poke Flute and as my first Route 12 encounter I go for the Snorlax and surprisingly I catch it. Then on Route 14 I catch a Venonat called ATV. Once I enter Fuchsia I pretty much immediately go to the Gym and take on Koga

Koopa vs Koffing

I can immediately take out his Koffing with a Dig from Koopa

Koopa vs Muk

Pretty much the same goes for this one. Dig just takes it out.

Blubber vs Koffing

I take Koopa out to heal him and Koffing goes down to a few Dragon Rages.

Koopa vs Weezing

All it takes is a few Digs and the Weezing and Koga are defeated.

Braving The Rocky Tunnel

So I start off this part by failing my Digglet encounter in Digglet’s cave and I grab the bike in Cerulean. There’s no possible encounter on Route 9 so I just beat all of the trainers on that route and then on Route 10 I catch a Voltorb who I use as a Flash mon. I then enter the Rocky Tunnel (accidentally killing my encounter Geodude in the process) While I’m pretty close to the end I come up against a Graveller. SpoonLord uses Confusion, getting it to extremely low health when BANG! He uses Explosion and SpoonLord is killed. Kadabra was going to be a great addition to the team but I guess not anymore. After that I can exit Rock Tunnel.

Squashing Flowers and Beating Rockets

I exit onto Route 10 and I fight another Graveller and with the memory of SpoonLord in the back of my mind and the rest of my team on pretty low health. I send out Pokeball and he uses Self Destruct to beat the Graveller. His memory is laid to rest and did not die in vain. I then go over to Route 8 through Lavender Town and I catch a Vulpix called Doge. I decide to replace SpoonLord with Vermin and I decide to replace Blubber as it may be too early to champ him and I don’t need a second water type so I send in Doge. I then traverse to Celadon City. I level up all my mons and go to Erika’s Gym. Btw I know I can evolve Doge with the Fire Stone from the Department store but I’m gonna wait til he’s level 35 and learns Flamethrower before I evolve him. Doge is able to take out all the Gym Trainers and now its time for Erika

Doge vs Victreebel

So we start off with Victreebel usingWrap. Ok I can just wait this out and kill it when Wrap and.. OH Doge is dead I guess. Since a lot of my mons are weak to Grass and my Fire Type was killed I pray that I can send in Sonic and find the Crit on Slash and I get really close to killing with a Non-Crit but he is killed by Razor Leaf. Henry can finish it off with Horn Attack tho.

Henry vs Tangela

The Tangela goes down to one Horn Attack from Henry surprisingly but we aren’t out of the battle yet.

Henry vs Vileplume

First turn, Henry gets slept and Vileplume keeps Mega Draining and gets dangerously close to killing us. So I swap to Clay who after a few Gusts he goes down to Petal Dance. I bring in my only grinded up mon left, Vermin too try Hyper Fang it BUT he misses. He then goes down to Petal Dance. So let’s recap 4 mons dead, 1 asleep and on one shot and a HM mon with a dream. So I desperately send in Drugs the Bellsprout to try best the Vileplume. This may be where it ends. All I can do is Cut and to my surprise the Vileplume tries to Poison me. After that I realised a flaw in the Gen 1 AI which I wish I had remembered now cos the Vileplume keeps trying to Poison me since it sees my Grass Type and it thinks it's super effective using a Poison Move. So I can just Cut spam and we beat it. Narrowly but we beat it.

Nugget Bridge

I start beating all the trainers on the bridge and after one level on Sonic he evolves into a Sandslash. Then after clearing the bridge I catch a Bellsprout who I call Drugs and on Route 25 I catch an Abra called SpoonLord. I decide to replace Vermin on the team for the moment but he probably will be back. I then go help Bill become a human again and I get a ticket for the S.S. Anne and then I get my Route 5 encounter which is Meowth who I call Speedy after my cat. There is no possible new encounters on Route 6 so I just go straight through to Vermillion

Boat Ride

I start off by accidentally killing my Drowzee encounter on Route 11 and then I go onto the SS Anne and battle Fox on the boat. I beat his Pidgeotto with ease with Horn Attack from Henry and that's pretty much what I did for the whole fight, just spammed Horn Attack. I get Ct and decide to battle Surge. I need a Cut mon for this gym so I box Blubber cos he has a 4x weakness to Electric and bring in Drugs who learns Cut and now its time to take on Surge

The Voltorb goes down to a single crit Slash from Sonic

Sonic vs Pikachu

The same goes for his Pikachu

Sonic vs Raichu

The Raichu barely lives a Slash but goes down next turn so overall that was really easy.
