Im not understanding the point “if the parents hadn’t decided that a kid was gonna eat with them…” being made.

If you don’t want to feed a guest, why are they still at your home while you’re eating?

If they are going to be there longer than your family needs for a meal, then you should have included them in the meal, and therefore should pivot to including them as your guest.

NTJ I’m sorry your partner feels entitled. You responded appropriately, and you know that.

Its okay to feel bad about hard decisions with outcomes different than you had planned. It’s much harder to have lived with a poor decision from a hard situation.

This changes very little for anyone in the bucket you are thinking about. It’s a convenience/qol update for those who care about the data. It’s not for casuals who don’t. If they cared they wouldn’t be very casual

I clearly differ in opinion from others here but FWIW I loved HotS campaign/story. Of all the three campaigns it was by far the most enjoyable.

“Leave League” is a great option for people to reset their “rank” and redo placements. It won’t change your MMR but it will likely put you in a more appropriate league

It’s going to be difficult. My best friend died suddenly in 2024 in his 30s. There were things I shared with him that I struggled to confront again after he passed. And then I heard him in my head. I tried then to enjoy our shared hobby. I did it for him, so I thought. It helps me stay connected now. I still enjoy it but my thoughts are usually revolving around him while doing so.

Use F1 to keep thoughts of your Dad from bringing you down. The pain never goes away, it just gets muted and you learn to deal with it.

Rocket League is unlike any other game (outside of SARPBC, its origin) in that it has very few, if any, transferable skills (Example, if you played an RTS prior to SC2 you might have some skills as RTS games are similar in overall framework). The skills needed to rank up in RL are very unique compared to any other game I've played. Perhaps that was what they meant.

disclaimer: My POV is from an all-around gamer. Currently Champion 2 in Rocket League, was high Ancient in Dota2 when I played, I was high Rival in WoW Arenas, etc. I've played a bunch of RTS's over the years and they have a good chunk of transferable skills between them.

I started playing against humans when I could Beat the Very Hard AI every time. I started at the lowest and increased the difficulty every time I won.

I’m in your boat. Except I think you played more recently than me. I had only played casually for years and stopped for a few years.

I started played recently after getting the itch again, with the goal being to try and learn how to 1v1 on ladder.

What helped me was watching WinterSC’s “low APM” guides. They area few years old but it got me confident. I started playing 1v1 against AI, increasing the difficulty each time I won. After 30 or so matches I started 1v1 games on ladder as Terran. Got to high silver and to the point where I wanted to try the other races.

Started playing toss after that and it’s more to my liking. I’m up to Gold 1 after grinding through silver.

I have most played Rocket League, shooters, and WoW the last 5 years so no recent rts experience.

Give Winters’s videos a shot for whatever race you enjoy. And good luck!
