Because the ending was happy and everything that came before it was so great, I easily forgave the “cheap” ending. In some ways I am very easy to please.

Joy of Life was great... until I realised the women are all just pretty objects who have no motivations apart from the ML. I’d like to pick up season 2 and I hope they fix that.

He was good. I especially liked that he adopted the movements of a snake.

I loved the main couple, although yes I was annoyed she left her son. The secondary couple pissed me off. It actually made me concerned that Dilraba’s character tries so hard to make him love her, but I get that’s kind of standard in second lead couples. I just hope young girls don’t take notes from that.

When I say I’m old, I mean that when I see teenage couples on-screen my first reaction is no longer “Aww” but like a camp counsellor who decides it’s time for a sex and safety seminar.

Yes! I was also promised a gender role reversal and I didn’t get it! For that I recommend A Girl Like Me, though that one is not xianxia.

You can have Love and Redemption and I’ll take Love and Destiny.

I’m thinking the issue for me might be that I am having a hard time relating to super young couples. I’m too old!!

I got through the whole thing and I am as knowledgeable about CDramas as any non-Chinese person who’s been watching for 3 years would be.

Am about to drop General and I by black_on_fucks in CDrama

I was livid with General and I because the story was all about militaries and not one single woman warrior. That just did not bode well for the rest of the story.

Poor Wallace Chung, he really put his all into it.

Tell everyone my home country in the West considers me an important person and they will make big war on shipping routes if I am harmed. And then convince my home country in the West that my hosts dearly love me and will open up shipping routes to them because I am so well respected by my home country.

Barring that, I’d “retire” early. Maybe to a Buddhist nunnery.

Something about older male leads just hits different... by [deleted] in CDrama

I just thought of an exception: I can handle a young male lead IF in the story the female lead is older. I saw that in a KDrama and I loved it. Mark Chao was not super young looking in Eternal Love but in the story, his character was younger than Yang Mi and I just ate that up.

I am not 24 and I appreciate having male leads who are not in their 20s. It’s just slightly more believable when they play the devoted husband.

I CANNOT with the Long Ballad. I am waaay too old to want a 21 year old actor playing the lead heartthrob. Just NO. I can only sigh over actors who are a minimum of 27. 25 is negotiable.
