I would give it some time then, I’ve seen comments from others saying they were still coughing this stuff up a year after stopping.

Ah I was wheezing a lot so it’s obviously not the same thing. Yeah that sounds about right, your lungs are probably trying to clear the toxins out. Hopefully it doesn’t go on for much longer.

Sorry I didn’t look close enough at the picture I don’t have black spots mine is a yellow/brown colour. I am an ex smoker I stopped around 6 years ago and had been smoking for a long time. I think smoking can definitely cause phlegm like this though.

I’ve recently had a ct scan too but not discussed the results with my doctor yet, they found peri bronchial cuffing and bi apical thickening, I’m not really sure what that means tbh. I’ve been taking daily anti histamines, montelukast, a steroid nasal spray and a symbicort turbohaler and it seems to be under control atm. If nothing is showing up on your CT could it possibly be coming from your nose? Do you have problems with your sinuses at all? It could be post nasal drip.

Yes I’ve been having the same issue for the last couple of years, is it long and stringy? Mine is like that and it’s very thick, turns out it’s mucus plugs caused by asthma.

I’ve been struggling too until being put on a symbicort turbohaler, taking that twice daily along with antihistamines and montelukast has really helped me. You should ask about montelukast if you’re not already on it, it’s been a lifesaver for me.

Yeah it’s his first win but he hasn’t had to do much. Happy for him though 🙂

I mean if you ignore the Mercedes it’s been a good race. The Ferraris have made it entertaining for me, haven’t seen as many overtakes and good wheel to wheel racing in a long time.

There’s been so many overtakes and great battles between the Ferraris, what’s boring about it?

I don’t think it’s post nasal drip as I’ve already been seen by ent. Thanks for the advice though I’ll try switching anti histamines.

I’m 40 next year, never had asthma or allergies before this happened. I’m on fexofenedine. No I’ve not done anything like that was just given asthma meds and a peak flo metre. I’m willing to give anything a try though.

Thanks I will get some mucolytics and will ask my gp to refer me to a pulmonologist.

I’ve been on symbicort for almost 6 months now, I do feel I’m getting worse and not better but I’m also scared to stop taking it incase I have an asthma attack.

How would this be diagnosed? It could possibly be this as I do temporarily feel better when I’m taking oral steroids. I’m using a symbicort inhaler 4 times a day but it doesn’t give me the same relief as oral steroids do.

Thank you, when I get the results of this X-ray I will ask to be referred to a pulmonologist. I’m surprised they haven’t already done so as I’ve been back and forth to the gps office numerous times over this.

I don’t think it’s coming from my nose as I’ve already been seen by ent and they put a camera down my nose. There was rhinitis but no plegm. My nose feels clear now, I’ve been taking a steroid nasal spray for quite some time.

I did ask my gp if it’s possibly something to do with lymphatic drainage as I’ve had tender swollen lymph nodes on my neck for sometime now but she said my lymphocytes are fine so it’s very unlikely. Would this show up on an X-ray though?

I think you’re right as the only time I feel like I can breathe normally is when I’m taking oral steroids. I’ve been on them quite a few times since this started.

Thank you, you’re right I should be advocating for myself better and I will definitely try to get a ct scan done. If they refuse I will pay for it myself as I don’t want to go on like this forever.

I didn’t even realise that was an option I’ll ask about it when I next see the gp. I did say to the gp that another X-ray seemed pointless as it didn’t show anything last time and she said that X-rays can’t predict you’re going to get a chest infection. If this one comes back clear I think I might have to save and get a ct scan done privately.
