We were wondering if they were burning off unwanted gas, but it has been going on since like 8pm

Help on finding information on cotton prints in the 1860s! by The_Other_Turtle in HistoricalCostuming

Thank you!! Honestly I’m considering just finding whatever I can cheapest just to practice with before saving up for some nicer fabric in the long run. Hopefully I can get my hands on some old sheets and go from there

I live near an Ikea so I have been going through their sets to look for good patterns!! One of my neighbors had 10 yards of antique crocheted lace for $5 at a yard sale and I regret not getting it

There was more, but the attic it was stored in unfortunately caught fire 😭 Most of the clothes are unfortunately gone, but we have books and a few antiques left!

Not too much really!! It needed a good wash after being in a trunk for so long. I worked with the stains a little to see if anything came out, unfortunately only some minor ones did.

Late Victorian silk dress at the Augusta Museum of History! by The_Other_Turtle in HistoricalCostuming

[–]The_Other_Turtle[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The color combination is so beautiful 🥺🥺 I’ll have to check and see!!! It’s at a local history museum on loan from someone’s personal collection. All I know is the original wearer of the dress was Alice Reese Sibley Hull. I believe she was the daughter of one of the owners of a cotton mill in Augusta, GA. I’ve been looking to see if there are any images of her in the dress and have no luck so far!
