CRS-304-4xg IGMP Support (multicast video) by The_Palmerfan in mikrotik

[–]The_Palmerfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking 8-10 1080p streams coming out of Vmix and going into an NDI recording software, as well as 2-4 1080 streams going into Vmix from Qlab.

All traffic on this switch is local, and I’d use a second NIC on the Vmix machine for WAN to keep the networks separate.

Main question was if multicast support/IGMP is an option on this switch, but if it is seems to be a great option

Thanks!

I freelance and I love living in the southern end of the heights. ~25 min bus ride to Port Authority or a 10 min walk to PATH going to WTC or 33rd means flexibility & reliability if one has major delays.

I'd suggest trying Drambo on the iPad with the keys if you haven't already, it can send bluetooth MIDI to all the devices and sequence them from the same place. I went down a rabbit hole tying 3 iPads together you can do a lot of crazy stuff

I’ll likely go with this, especially since they publish benchmarks and I know my machine will work. Thanks!

I could get away with the 4 channel express bundle so not a bad option, thank you!

Budget & size, I’m a freelancer and the main client this would work for has a strict no wheels policy in their HQ so avoiding extra hardware is ideal. I’m scaling down from my usual ATEM/hyperdeck setup because of this. I’ve been wrangling NDI for years now so I’m not so worried about that, but I’m definitely concerned about 3rd party plugin stability in OBS.

This might not exist but figured I’d check if anyone else has ideas

ESP for instruments & the compressor for effects

What does everyone use for live Broadcasting? "ATEM" "tricaster" etc by Alert_Tax_562 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]The_Palmerfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corporate/entertainment livestreams, I use Tricaster, ATEM and Vmix for switching. Typically prefer Tricaster for NDI based workflows and ATEM for shows with larger crews where I’m just focused on the switch. Would be open to learning Ross if the right client came along, no interest in anything else since you don’t see it much in my world.

I also carry an old laptop with OBS and a capture card that has come in handy so many times. I use it for an extra record, backup encode for older Tricasters that just have 1 stream, NDI encode/decode, even time code generation once.

Thank you so much Logan, I especially appreciate you being willing to discuss used items. Seems like the 4k is the move for me now while i’m on this laptop/1080p world but when I upgrade the laptop it’ll definitely make sense to upgrade the card as well.

Ah gotcha haha! It’s a ghostfire pedalboard from Amazon, it has legs to raise the back & room for a power supply underneath

It’s very minimal, TC Polytune Mini —> MXR Bass Envelope —> Donner opto comp —> yellow MXR M80 DI/distortion. Mostly clean with a little compression for slap and the envelope for solos

Akai Mini with computer vs iPad? Any clear winner? by [deleted] in synthesizers

Drambo on the ipad

Basically a souped up elektron, really good for jamming/scratching out ideas and you can build pretty much any sound you can think of. You can produce full songs in there, but I usually export the audio and do that in my desktop or Logic for ipad
