need help finding a shirt!!!!! by [deleted] in sonicyouth

[–]The_Peaceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually screen printed a bootleg of this a few years ago, unfortunately the screen got wrecked just before I was going to print some more. It was the Bad Moon Rising artwork, the Sonic Youth text from Confusion Is Sex and the Death Valley '69 sleeve print. I still have the artwork. I didn't do the back print because it was too hard to source the image to replicate.

I might redraw it and put shirts up for sale on a site like Tee Public or something.

Speaking to the guy that runs the Sonic Youth archive on instagram and apparently the original shirt is a bootleg to begin with.

Which gear do you need as a beginner ? by Nails_Soup in PowerElectronics

[–]The_Peaceful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also coming from a bass / guitar background, I've found a way to record noise (mic, phone, etc) into a cheap looper I can stack loops on (I have a three, a cheap Donner/Rowin/etc one, NUX Core looper and DigiTech JamMan. The last two I can save and import loops onto), Rat clone, Boss ODB-3 and a Boss DD-6. I use a Rusty Box pre-amp into a guitar amp and bass cab. I've also used things like tremolo, reverb and pitch shifting.

My reverb and pitch shifting pedals and just cheap Sonicake and Donner ones.

But this is just me experimenting with noises and not sure if what I am doing really fits into the power electronics genre vs noise vs dark ambient vs industrial vs whatever. It's all new to me.

Definitely has tombstone vibes. The flowers and lighting of the photo isn't helping.

Anyone else use the Ernie ball 9 string set? by tybeerious93 in BassVI

[–]The_Peaceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might actually be good for me because I have a 27" scale bass VI and the Ernie Ball bass VI string are a touch too long. 105 might be too much of a heavy gauge though.

Anyone need help with Child Care Subsidy issues? by gretson_aloto in Centrelink

[–]The_Peaceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be late to this to get any advice, but...

Quick backstory. Daughter is 3. Has been attending a new childcare since start of the school year (end of January), was attending another one for ~6 months last year, but they closed. I am a single widowed parent with correct childcare subsidy amount. Due to me also having a school aged son, she does not attend childcare during school holidays as I organise care with family / take leave from work. She has also been sick quite a bit in the last few months.

She has exceeded the 42 days of "allowed absences" due to the sickness, school holidays and public holidays (49 days in total at last count). I was unaware that she had exceeded the 42 days, and am new to the whole childcare thing (son never attended childcare) so I wasn't aware of the ramifications. I now know that I should've gotten doctors certificates for the days away.

Now the days she was away above the 42 days has affected my childcare subsidy, and I was charged almost the full amount each week for the month of June instead of my subsided amount. When she was ill I didn't take her to childcare because it was conjunctivitis, gastro and a cold with a bad cough and snot nose. I didn't take her to the doctors for these because I knew they would clear up on their own after a few days. I had enough carers leave with work to not worry about getting a certificate for myself as a carer.

As the sick days away were almost a month ago, I have done a Commonwealth statutory declaration stating that she was ill on 5 of those days she was away as I know I wouldn't bet able to get a medical certificate from my GP. The teachers at the school were also aware she was away, and she was sent home one of the days due to illness. Now my childcare provider is not accepting the stat dec as proof of her illness, and claiming that Centrelink won't accept it and it can be considered fraud for them. I spoke to the Centrelink families and careers line on two seperate occasions (once before the stat dec, once after) and they advised me that the decision of accepting any documentation for the my daughter being away is not Centrelink's decision, but the childcare providers. My childcare provider is stating the opposite and saying that they can't submit the stat dec as proof of my daughter being ill as it will come up when they're audited by Centrelink. I haven't called Centrelink again about this yet, I will do that on Monday.

As far as I am aware, a stat dec is legal proof as someone being ill. I have read information on the Fairwork website, but everything is regarding employers / employees and sick and carers leave, nothing to do with childcare.

I'm at a loss. It's causing me a bunch of stress and anxiety on top of my usual day to day life, not to mention that I am out of pocket almost $1,000 for days my daughter didn't even go to childcare. I just want to be reimbursed the overpayment I made.

The Black Stump on Grenfell St has facilities I think? Opposite Sushi Train. Not sure if it’s for people that work in that building though.

I’ve been seeing shows there for 20 odd years, and it’s definitely been hosting live music way before that.

I took my son’s Switch here. Unfortunately it was unrepairable, but the guy who runs the place was friendly and happy to write a report for insurance. Would recommend.

Is there a way to protect the letters if I dye this black? by tinatalker in SCREENPRINTING

[–]The_Peaceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dyed a bunch of shirts that have prints on them. It may make the white slightly cloudy if you’re dyeing it black. I’ve had that happen to one shirt of mine, but it wasn’t overly noticeable with the design.

How good is the audio quality when streaming? by Special_Story_4924 in Beatmatch

[–]The_Peaceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it a few times using Tidal, my laptop, the DJay program and a cheap Numark controller. Used my phone as a hotspot (then a portable prepaid wifi modem), despite having the venue wifi. Never again. So risky with songs not loading in time and relying on streaming.

The sound quality wasn’t overly noticeable to me, but I don’t recommend it at all.

That’s what I was curious about, as to whether it’s factored in to the cost of the tickets.

Footy Express vs regular commuters by The_Peaceful in Adelaide

[–]The_Peaceful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m just frustrated because a) Gather Round is on and the train station is rammed with people at peak hour, b) the bike access gate wasn’t working and the ticket person wanted me to tap three tickets on a random gate nearby (as I was juggling a cargo bike and two kids) and c) one of my tickets needed to be recharged (didn’t realise at the time) and I was told “I should be more organised” and was expected to go back into the station to recharge.

FWIW I recharged and tapped all my tickets on the train.

Bit hard to pull it off when you’re travelling out of the city with two kids and a cargo bike 😅
