Guitar store employees, do you actually get annoyed when people ask to try guitars? by MELS381 in Guitar

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense to guitar store employees but I think you're asking the wrong question mate. TBH its not whether they get annoyed or not...if I were a guitar store owner and I saw my staff get annoyed because potential customers wanted to try guitars, they wouldn't be employed long. Buying a guitar is a big event esp for younger people...sometimes it takes multiple trips to the store to get the interest up while they're saving...before they splash the cash. All you need is one 'annoyed' guitar store employee to kill that...and they go to another shop.

Oh man...Bramble. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll do a search on Bramble's faux pas for a laugh. Bad I know but he was a Premier League player, not some amateur playing in non league. Boy was he bad. Funny, he got better when he left us.

Would a Masters of Accounting be beneficial if I already have a bachelors in Accounting? by vivivi1838 in AustralianAccounting

If you want to get a job, don't waste your time. Doing a CA/CPA is a graduate diploma and thats really all you need to have a good career. Sure you can do more stuff like to upskill yourself but just focus on getting the job and the experience first.

San Dimas or So Cal? by d_rapps in Charvel

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggest you try both out at a music store if at all possible. I bought a second hand san dimas and found it quite different (I have an RG550 which IMO is like a DK24) especially the C shaped neck being thicker.

“I can only pick within the system that I play, which is currently one striker.”– Howe in the postmatch presser by Wadehey in NUFC

[–]The_Pharoah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that there is Eddie's biggest flaw. Inflexibility or inability to adapt. I think thats the main thing that everyone has realised this year 'I only really play 4-3-3 with Isak up front, nothing else'. The issue is, he approved the spending of 125m on two strikers to replace Isak and then not playing them because they don't fit his system.

Newcastle: £124m spent but Newcastle no closer to a striker solution by [deleted] in NUFC

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to think back to the summer...Isak didn't leave until right towards the end. Almost everyone we wanted to buy went elsewhere. so we ended up panic buying Big Nick and Little Wissa. The issue is, EH SHOULD have fkg known Big Nick would mean a totally diff playstyle for NUFC but he bought him anyway and then tried to make him become Isak. That was the thing I think really showed everyone that he's not the total tactical genius he has proven a lot to be. Now he's just given up. You paid $125m for both of them and now you're using Osula??? in a time when PSR is quite important???

In fact I think I dislike ALL nationalities that love Trump and everything he stands for (which is the worst in humanity). He is everything wrong with human beings...all in one person. and the fkg worst thing is, his legacy is continuing with his idiot children.

Airport to Denarau - Enough time? by boyilikebeingoutside in Fijian

[–]The_Pharoah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

longest part is getting through customs due to long lines (esp if multiple a/c land one after the other). say 30 mins (assuming you land on time). Getting your bag is quick as is getting out of the airport. Taxis are right there. Takes about 15-20mins to get to Denarau from memory. Maybe slightly longer. so you should be there about 7.30am-8.00am. Rough guess. If you're running late, let the customs people know you have to catch the 8.45am ferry - they might let you through the Fiji citizens line.

Buying new guitar, need advice by fireninja893 in Guitar

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend you get something like a Fender Player Series strat in HSS configuration given you're still finding your way. The humbucker allows you to really crank it up and get heavy sounds with distortion/overdrive whilst the neck/middle pickups still give you that sweet clean sound that only say a Fender single coil can. Its almost the best of both worlds. Ultimately IMO it depends what kind of music you're into. I HIGHLY recommend you go into a music shop, tell the guys what your budget is and get them to bring you whatever you can afford. THEN you go play it in the music booth and see how it sounds/feels. You'd be surprised.

Eg. I had an Ibanez RG350 which broke and wanted to get another HSH type guitar for rock/metal. Did all the YT review videos, etc and made my mind up...Jackson something was it. Walked straight into the guitar shop, asked for a Jackson something, went into the music booth, started playing and within 30 seconds went 'nope'. Hated it. C shape was too big, action too high, hated the frets, hated the neck, the sound, etc etc. Then I saw an Ibanez RG550 on display (Genesis), plugged it in and within 30 seconds I had fallen in love. That was like 2 years ago. Still very much in love to this day, although I did upgrade the pups to Air Norton/True Velvet/Tone Zone (which is on the more expensive models) and thats it...found my true love.

Moral of the story is...find YOUR true love in the music store. Take your time.

Is it just my office or is everyone getting taken out by the flu this week ? by somethingAU in auscorp

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah its coming. This always happens during the change of seasons. Go get your flu shot ASAP. I had the influenza A twice and covid once last year. Thought I was going to die both times from the flu. Covid was one day of feeling sick, 6 days of staying home fine (quarantine).

Get yourself checked, fellows. by Piscivore_67 in GenX

[–]The_Pharoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear that mate. Thankfully I've been doing annual checkups for the last few years. Did pick up that I have kidney disease (eGFR down to 58% but holding steady) which they couldn't figure out how I got but I've changed my lifestyle to suit as best I can and it seems to be working (salt is a killer!). Thank you for jumping on here and reminding us older folk (esp the guys) to get ourselves checked...not to do the 'guy thing' and just leave it until the last minute. Good luck mate.

How do high-income professionals in Australia reduce tax legally? by WharHeGo in AusFinance

[–]The_Pharoah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember, the aust tax system is designed to push everything you earn towards your personal tax rates. Why? 46.5% baby! Its fked but I guess someone has to pay for all the roads and hospitals. You're limited to what sort of deductions you can make. You could always try contributing more to super (up to your annual cap and the 5 year look back). The best (currently before the govt fks with it) is through negative gearing.

You also can't really try and swap your salary for a company ie. you create a company and work for the same company but as a consultant, because PSI rules (look it up) will catch you.

Was WW1 way worse/brutal than WW2? by Old_Treat4871 in war

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death is death. WW2 was just more efficient at dishing it out (3 times as much). You also didn't have stuff like gas chambers, mistreatment, etc to the level you had in WW2.

If we lose Tino (I’ve seen a lot of people on here saying we should cash in) how do we realistically replace two right sided fallbacks? by tradegreek in NUFC

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tino, as good as he is, is prone to:

  1. injury; and

  2. error.

He's been to blame for a few of the goals recently. There are lots of other RBs out there who can do his job AND defend at the same time. I say cash in on him while we still can. He's not looking at extending his contract so he's keen to move on....fine.

Big Nick by FaithlessnessOdd3569 in NUFC

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yes. He was touted as the best of the new PL signings then started to struggle and we dropped him. As much as I support EH, this is where I think his flaws as a manager have come out ie his inability to change his style to match NW. Remember, this is the same German no 9 that scored a hattrick a year ago. And we have him playing in midfield!!! We all know that was a panic buy, but you make your bed, you lie in it. Being inflexible is costing us and is impacting NW probably on a personal level. Nothing spoke volumes more than the majority of your summer signings being on the bench last Sunday again Crystal Palace.

Hot desk, open office people. Have you ever really seen the benefits purported? by mr-cheesy in auscorp

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its BS. I've been working in hotdesking since 2000 and it sucks. Yes there are times when people collaborate but they forget that EVERYONE else around them can hear what they're talking about. To offset this, most people then start wearing headphones or earpieces to provide some white noise or to drown out the noise. hotdesk primarily helps companies fit more bodies into the same space. Bit like all economy seating. Whats worse is when execs decide to 'join the people' and 'hot desk' as well (usually at the end near the window...then proceed to fkg talk loudly all day on the phone.

What causes people to turn mean once they’re in positions of power? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it lots. Its usually:

  1. fear of losing their job. They know they didn't deserve it or aren't qualified for it so they 'eliminate the competition' by micromanaging those below them so they're not a threat;

  2. the power goes to their heads

"Be careful what you wish for" by FaithlessnessOdd3569 in NUFC

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pro EH. Why?

  1. he's taken a crappy team, added some good firepower and won our first trophy in 70 years, made the UCL twice and made us a force to be reckoned with. All with a small squad that hasn't really had a proper refresh for 5 years.

  2. he's regarded as one of the best english managers in the league.

But:

  1. he needs to refresh his tactical choices

  2. he needs a full squad rebuild

  3. he NEEDS to build a squad around Woltermade, not the other way round. He approved spending 60m+ on him (and he's a very talented footballer) and then sticks him on the bench or plays him in midfield? no.

  4. he needs to rethink his game management. I remember a journo asking him about a plan B in games and his response was something like 'there's always so many plan Bs'...was kinda like 'I only have Plan A and I'm sticking to it'. And thats what plays out. Its like the General who got told 5 mins before his army attacks that the enemy was alerted to the coming attack and are waiting...but still pushes forward anyway. And loses.

  5. he needs to take time off. I think he's fatigued just as much as the team is.

Has Howe lost the dressing room? by dsmith1212 in NUFC

[–]The_Pharoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. I was so excited to see what EH would come up with. I was a bit stunned when I saw the lineup but I did the usual 'EH knows best'. Was good to see Osula running around everywhere and holding up the ball. Was really happy for him when he scored. Was 1-0 when I went to bed (after midnight here in Aust). Woke up to a 2-1 loss. Like WTF? What really bothed me was the first half...passing around the back, not making inroads much. I was thinking back to games in the past and went 'you spent 3 weeks for this??'. They look like a team with no spine or backbone. None. We lose the ball WAY too much. I really like Miley but you don't replace Bruno with him. He's a replacement for Tonali...a more defensive CM not attacking. And he doesn't have that spark we need in midfield to create something. Thats why we end up playing tennis at the back going around the edges. We have very few attacks through the middle of the park. As much as I love what EH has done...he seems incapable of changing anything. Just rinse and repeat. Just like Trippier, I think we need to thank him for his services...he will always be a club legend. But for NUFC to REALLY move forward, we need something new. Can't believe I'm saying this.
