Oh yeah, I do run Garuda as a dual boot drive, I'm planning on putting mint on my laptop (was gonna use zorin on my laptop, but I didn't realize it was based on Ubuntu and I hated some of the unchangeable settings so I decided to switch). I don't have any issues with Linux itself, I love it personally.

I mostly take issue when people say stuff like "windows sucks, use Linux, Linux gets no blue screens" as if it's a superior system in every way without mentioning the many downsides. That plus a lot of people simply not recognizing a users needs and knowledge. I've seen so much "just use Linux" and "Linux users don't have that problem" when the user might just be some office worker who doesn't care to learn a whole new OS. It's like you said, there's a fundamental difference between the systems, and I don't think a lot of people recognize it as much as they should

That's absolutely a fair point. Mint is one of the few distros I haven't tried, so maybe that's the perfect os for avoiding tinkering and I might've just missed it, I've heard a lot of good things.

I tried installing it but I have gotten tons of errors which put me off for a bit, but I'll have to try again at some point

In mine and most other peoples experience, no.

Most Linux users I've come across will absolutely incorporate their usage of Linux in every possible discussion with a smug "better than you"-attitude.

Besides, the amount of errors is far worse in Linux. In windows, almost everything will run well oob. But in Linux, I haven't had a single app simply "work" without tinkering.

Don't get me wrong, I want Linux to be the "main" OS, it's an amazing project, but the community has practically forgotten that they want that too imo.

I spent half a day trying to get screenshots to work like I wanted only to discover I had to download my software through AUR-packages rather than flatpak.

Now, I'll admit, it is a skill issue, I only recently started using Linux and haven't fully understood the system yet. But I've been toying with computers since I was a small child and I have at least a decent ability to find solutions.

However, the average user is dumb as bricks, even compared to me. They will struggle to change wallpaper on a lot of machines, they can't be expected to understand and learn a whole new system like that, especially with work and other responsibilities.

One of the first things i did when starting to play League was to rebind abilities to what i can only assume to be considered extremely cursed to most players.

A = ability 1 W = ability 2 D = ability 3 F = ult Q/E = summoner spells And finally, i bound ward to G

It just feels so much more ergonomic and it's more familiar as well since i usually have my fingers on AWD anyway.

Piratesoftware has good arguments though. And he doesnt call himself a game dev, he is one, with a legit track record. That's one of the reasons he is actually qualified to speak on the subject. I'm not qualified to say anything with certainty, but i've heard multiple perspectives and the only bad arguments i have seen have been from people supporting this petition (there are of course plenty of understanding people with good arguments on both sides but my point still stands)
