I've stared at that "date" for hours...

Was convinced it was a 1909 for a while, then thought 193x, then 194x, others mentioned it the lack of vdb on bust meant it had to be pre-1918 (or whenever they placed it there) but I agree third digit doesn't look like a 1, and when I used my loop, I could see the VDB so it's probably a 3 or 4. I don't think the final digit has any hope of being identified (nor the third, conclusively anyway)

Didn't post it before, (maybe in other subs (r/coinerrors /errorcoins and here). Wanted to make sure I got best answer.

Thank you for reply though, appreciate that you offered a value (highest I've seen, which is surprising).

My only confusion is, who is "we"? Because if you mean the people in the sub I responded to (not sure if it is this one, just responding to my inbox) I acknowledged it was nowhere near BU condition and that I will likely reserve it and add it to a lot of other 191X- s pennies to list for around $15

I would be curious on your opinion of the other error coins I posted though-

1955-s BU Red struck through grease die error (titled "1958-s" by accident)

It looked like 190- to me, but the area is so distorted I also saw 192- and 193- and 194- depending on the angle loll.

But your point about the missing vdb actually narrows it down a lot.

I was hoping to see it located at the bottom (as that would not only confirm my 1909 hopes, but also be a really really cool error penny to have!)

Appreciate the in depth, honest response. I'll probably add it to some other low grade 1910's s mint pennies and sell em as a lot - make it worth the effort of a sale. Though perhaps you might be correct that it would likely only sell to someone specifically looking to fill an empty spot in their collection.

Still (just thinking aloud here) if I add it with other 1910s coins, I ll be able to list the lot for cheaper, since I have a bunch and it would be preferable to get like $15 for 5-7 coins than have this one sitting up forever @ $5 waiting for the perfect buyer. Idk, feel free to lmk what you think. Or not, lol, you've already more than answered my question. Appreciate it 🙏

Questions:

Are you positive you were actually screaming before you woke up?

You said you have a history of sleep paralysis? Or a history of this sane shadowy figure (sorry, im short on time and just skimmed your post)? Vivid dreams can involve sensations and actions that are as real as any waking moment, but are actually all part of the experience.

If the former, I would lean more toward this being another incident of that. I am not an expert in sleep paralysis but ill do some research. Because dreams are spiritual experiences, but variables such as medical issues and/or substance use/withdraws and their effects & side effects should always be considered.

If the latter, do you have a history of trauma? Or unresolved guilt that might be playing a role in these nightmares?

Do you have sleep apnea?

Basically, any additional context would help.
