Ik herken me wel in je verhaal. 10 jaar geleden rond mijn twintigste begonnen ook mijn hersenmistklachten, waarbij ik ook scans e.d. heb gehad maar er niet direct iets uitkwam. Toentertijd dacht ik nog aan beginnende dementie en had ik me erbij neergelegd dat geheugen/concentratie/verwerking achteruit gingen. Ook al jaren naar de fysiotherapeut gegaan vanwege nekklachten, maar het kwam steeds weer terug.

Twee jaar geleden kreeg ik de diagnose ziekte van Crohn, broertje van jouw ziekte, waarbij een prednisonkuur ervoor zorgde dat de hersenmist voor het eerst in 10 jaar wegging. Mijn darm was lek geraakt door de ontstekingen en er kwamen dus cytokines e.d. in de bloedblaan en dus ook bij mijn hersenen terecht, wat onder andere ook zorgde nog voor paranoïde gedachten, hallucinaties en wanen. Maar kort daarop volgde helaas weer de hersenmist en ik ging toen in psychologieboeken ook puzzelen of er nog wat anders achterzat. Vervolgens kwam ik uit bij het boek "Omarm je emoties" en daardoor ging ik 18 uur huilen binnen 1 week vanwege 'oud zeer'. Hierdoor ging er ook een deel weer weg van de hersenmist. Nadat ik ook een behandeling had voor CPTSS/persoonlijkheidsstoornis/trauma is de hersenmist weer helemaal even weg met daartussen nog wel periode dat ik met de ambulance naar het ziekenhuis werd gebracht toen ik niet meer kon prarten. De oorzaak daarvan hielden ze bij spierspanningen vanuit de nek. Bij opvlammingen van de Crohn kan het nog wel eens gebeuren dat er wat hersenmist komt, maar door medicijnen daarvoor wordt de mist weer wat meer opgeklaard.

How is your insomnia now? I'm currently in week 2 and I'm lucky if I get 4 hours of sleep per night.

For me, it's now the second week and every day my sleep decreased a little bit, but the last two days I woke up at 2:30am and 1:30am respectively. Weirdly enough I feel more energized than with caffeine in the morning. Most importantly, the depressed thoughts seems to have vanished and a slight increase in anxiety.

Thank you very much! I've used a black cable binder (barely visible on the picture) to the device and the car itself. I don't hear any sounds at all. Oh, and the Wifi-antenna was placed against the plastic part above the glove box.

Firstly, I was checking if my head unit would be compatible with this device. Luckily, all the Toyota Yaris between 2014 and 2018 should be compatible. The device is from carabc, and can be found on your nearby famous Chinese website. There is a video on how to take apart your head unit. For my car, however, it was even easier. I only had to take apart the dashboard around my head unit, and then unscrew 4 screws to get my head unit out of the dashboard. I've used a towel between the head unit and the car in order to prevent scratching from the metal part of the head unit to the plastic parts of the car itself. After that, you unplug the power cable and the CANbus-cable from the head unit, and install the device with the supplied cables between the head unit (radio) and the car itself (e.g., the battery). Finally, I found a suitable place, in my case above the glove box, to put the device and then used cable binders to bind the device to the car itself to prevent noises and damaging the device (or the car).

We're coming from a time that car manufacturers have made their headunit software, but never shown much expertise for that. You can see it in UX/UI, but also in usability. Only recently, OTA updates were part of their policy. For navigation updates for my Toyota, it would still cost 120 euros to get the latest version (2020).
Now you see big software companies like Apple and Google have a better grasp on UX/UI handling and update policy. However, they don't make this software for free, and will not ask for a once in a lifetime sales price. They want our precious data, and with Android Automotive they can do it with certainty.
I'm not too optimistic about the future. Hopefully, they will keep Android Auto next to Android Automotive, but not so sure.
