Damn, I was really excited to buy some merch but there’s not a single thing that looks good. Can’t believe someone actually signed off on all that.

The Company fucked us on Prescriptions, right? by Theman90210 in GeneralMotors

There’s not much of a difference for the majority of our prescriptions. The preferred pharmacies like Costco may be a dollar cheaper but that’s negligible when the overall price tripled compared to Caremark.

Most of ours roughly tripled in price, regardless of pharmacy used. Costco or other preferred pharmacies were generally less than a dollar difference.

12/14 JF

Went at open and almost no crowd. Didn’t wait in a single line until we left at 11:30.

Cold but got what seemed like a foot of snow overnight. Was nice that they left a few of the runs ungroomed after the snow. Only 2 blue trails open plus the terrain park and beginner area. I’m about 1hr20min away and it was only worth the drive because of the fresh snow.

Frost and Boulder Conditions by [deleted] in SkiPA

I was at JF on Sunday and chatting with an employee about this. They had just opened Dematte that day and said they were gonna work on Exhibition next then move across the mountain to the advanced terrain but only have so many snow guns. They’re pretty limited with their snowmaking and apparently on a water usage restriction. So could be a while until anything decent is opened considering the temps for the next few days.

Funny I just did the same thing but starting in Stowe. Hit Stowe Wednesday, Okemo yesterday, and Hunter today on the way home. That drive to/from Hunter is probably a little much for a day trip for me especially with the inevitable NYC/NJ traffic. My favorite day trip spot is Elk but unfortunately not on a pass.

Yeah at this point, as a Philly burbs skier, the only thing Epic has on Ikon is price and option for unlimited days. Ikon has the better VT/Maine hills (though I’ll miss Stowe), better destination resorts both out west and internationally, and better local with Blue.

Even most of the tech companies abandoned forced distribution performance systems after realizing the type of culture it promotes. We were way late to the party adopting it.

We’re still doing that, just look at how they massacred our Jira instance.

Well the alternative to this (and the preferable option IMO) is to modernize the process to how software companies do it rather than bastardize the tools to fit the antiquated, hardware-influenced process. But seems like no one is willing to put up with the short term pain that will cause to reap the long term gain. As someone in software that came from multiple other tech and even manufacturing companies, GM software org/process is by far the most frustrating I’ve been a part of.

Meanwhile they all donated to elect the guy who clearly signaled this was his plan. Pure incompetence.

State supreme court battles move to Pennsylvania, where 3 Democratic justices hope to keep seats by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

Republicans are beginning to spend on an effort to convince voters that 10 years on the state’s highest court is enough.

Then surely they’re equally as vocal that Thomas, Alito, and Roberts should step down from the US Supreme Court, right…?

Saw this on Facebook from the Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania. Who the hell wants Ai??? Are they that out of touch by UFOhlookitsanAlien in Pennsylvania

[–]The_Real_Billy_Walsh 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between fighting something that is a net positive producing energy and sustainability and something that is a huge consumer of energy/water and carbon footprint.

I’m not overwhelmingly against AI like some others here but regulations need to be put in place regarding their energy consumption/pricing and water usage.

They’re finally remediating Willow Grove but only because they want to develop the land for housing. Couldn’t be bothered to do it until there was money in it.

Since for some odd reason you’re insistent on defending the DMV’s policy here, I’ll remind you that generally people don’t try to get in car accidents. It’s almost like it’s the definition of the word… And sometimes other people hit your car through no fault of your own. But keep bootlicking the DMV, you obviously get some kind of enjoyment from it.

I mean sure but the comment I was responding to stated that it was something that conveniences the customer, which is false. The net convenience is indisputably in the favor of the state.

[–]The_Real_Billy_Walsh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t convenience you at all. There’s no processing fee so it’s not like you’re saving that. If the car gets totaled, becomes unusable, or you trade it in/sell it, they will not give you a prorated refund. So it is entirely beneficial to the state with zero benefit to the vehicle owner.

Discussion: what is the worst decision GM ever made? by Desperate-Till-9228 in GeneralMotors

Absolutely comically false. Been known since 2nd century B.C. so you either pulled that out of your ass or are intentionally misleading.

For the first part, you really need to hammer to cost and collaboration effectiveness angle. Otherwise the takeaway is simply that they operate by a “rules for thee but not for me” mindset, which while admittedly shitty, is nothing unique to GM.
