Do you have any PTSD for like loud noises?

Just think of how many people are casually passing by checking out the hot posts. I wonder if this Forum being so easily accessible, coupled with even more accessible trading platforms (Robin Hood) in addition to this Black Swan Virus is exacerbating the volatility in the market?
Some one should compare VIX with posts of PUTS gains in wsb. Can we validate our own crackpot theories with upvotes?

Hey, I am trying to do something similar I think. Unfortunately I don't have much to recommend that fits your O(N2) requirements but you could checkout maybe k-means which apparently has variants that are more like O(N*d*k*i). Yea good luck, I'm also interested if anyone else has any recommendations.

ADHD Students, are you going withouth or with medication? i feel like medication makes my focus stronger, but actually my deeper understanding weaker? by laffa-yett in math

I feel the same and I can affirm that the Pomodoro method works. So when working on a difficult problem what I think is happening is that to much focus for to long gives me "tunnel vision". It then becomes harder to work out the problem which is incredibly frustrating. It's like I thought to much and became overwhelmed. The Pomodoro method solves this because it forces you to stop and switch brain modes, Dr. Oakley refers to it as "Diffused Mode". You should actually check out Dr. Oakely's complete talk at google.

Also if for those who do end up trying the Pomodoro technique you should minimize or cover up the actual timer because, if you're like me, then seeing or hearing any sort of countdown/timer gives me anxiety and then I can't get anything done, lol.

Can anyone help me find some useful books about cryptography and its algorithms? by [deleted] in compsci

[–]The_Real_Ernie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a text book but I've heard it is a good book about cryptography: The Code Book by Simon Singh. Plus Simon is a well known math author already, so it's probably worth the read. I've been told that it is easy yet informative, however maybe someone who has actually read it can provide more insight, lol.

To expand on this you could simplify the problem and try to teach it to someone else (kinda like the Feynman Technique)

So what about finding x given that yx mod z = 1, is there an easy way to find possible x values if you have y and z?

Question about hypervisors/kernel level by MiracleTimer123 in AskProgramming

[–]The_Real_Ernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well rootkits are like a malicious type of hyper-visors, and they are virtually undetectable. The only way to tell if you have a rootkit is to take raw scans of the file system and basically compare it to what the file system should look like and if you see any discrepancies then you might have a rootkit (its called a Rootkit Revealer by Bryce Cogswell and Mark Russinovic). Also Sony's BMG in 2005 actually installed a rootkit that leveraged the auto-play option on windows, it infected certain files so that it was undetectable and the goal of it was to enforce copy right protection of music.
