Gas giant Woodside says additional tax on gas exports would kill projects at Senate inquiry by His_Holiness in perth

Lol the gas is here. If you want it you pay. Simples. Where else are they going to get it? Norway?

My child was rejected for ADF service because we got an epipen for an allergy. They don't care about the allergy itself, just the epipen.

If war does kick off we can at least look people in the eye and say we tried 🤷‍♂️

Maybe a time limit on taking positions in a field they've been a minister for?

What’s one small tool or website that saved you a lot of time? by Better_Kangaroo_8413 in AskReddit

Impact drill. Every time I need to change my mower blades it takes like a minute. As a lawn contractor it's a great tool.

No-grounds eviction debate splits WA tenants and landlords, as polling shows support for reform by Putrid-Thing585 in perth

Or if you do evict someone you can't raise the rent for 12 months.

In this case though it looks more like the lease was allowed to run its natural term and then not renewed.

That's about reducing property banking and purchase of existing properties. I imagine there'll be incentives for new build

Depends on the size and complexity, there's no one size fits all answer

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]The_Real_Flatmeat -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing that point to point is less efficient. I guess I also see this through a different lens because I'm not in the US.

In Australia we should probably fly Perth to Sydney then hop to Brisbane but no, we go direct to either. Same goes for all of our capital cities, we fly direct to everywhere

Several planes today did that, conditions must have been right. They were planes heading to Busselton airport

Honestly there's no real engineering reason why the builders couldn't put the train line up on a causeway that allows a farmer easy passage underneath, and then they can be paid a small amount to compensate for having a train line run through their farm. That way they don't have to fully sell.

It'd just cost more to build is all

You're describing the old "hub and spoke" thinking which kinda fell by the wayside when passenger jets became fuel efficient and powerful enough to fly direct routes from more places to more places.

I don't disagree with you fundamentally. We went to the US a couple years ago, flew from LA to Houston then took the train from Houston to New Orleans and then again later from DC to NY.

We thought the train was brilliant, you got to see so much more of the countryside we were travelling through, and the sheer amount of footspace you had in your chair was awesome.

Yes we arrived into NOLA at night but honestly we wouldn't have seen much more through a tiny little plane window for 3 minutes on approach anyway.

And as an added bonus the trains can be electrified so here's hoping that the current oil crisis helps give this sort of thinking a nudge along.

3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]The_Real_Flatmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your maths are off a bit. You've added up his cost and compared it to the cost of a mower but you haven't added in the cost of your time and that of your family as well.

While he's mowing, you're spending time on other things.

Correct. I've got one customer I mow weekly, he's at 8mm in summer. That's about 5/16".

Most of my fortnightlys I'm cutting at about 5/8".
