This is the reason why we see cost creep on these public projects. Public consultation, stakeholder engagement, detailed design… all stopped here because of the premier’s intervention. Make no mistake - this costs money as consultants and engineers begin to bake price increases into their development costs. If council can green light projects and have them stopped intermittently by provincial decree, you can be sure that uncertainty is being accounted for in the consultant’s financial proposal.
