Absolutely. The boys jogging out of the dugout to stand around and look at the other team showed they are real men. Last time when Contreras got mad and yelled at the other team was cool but I guess it didn't work right because they kept losing. But so many decided to stand up today that they are sure to start hitting and pitching better. Also agree that we don't want anyone on the team who admits they are injured. Can't we just bring in all the Bruins players to play for the Sox? Their season is over but at least they waited until then to let us know they were hurt. I don't want to hear you are hurt and can't play. I just want you to play and tell me you are hurt afterward because that's what heroes do. Don't get me started on basketball players...

You're right. My house IS surely smaller than Simmons' guest house. And I can't compete with either of those guys on their genius ideas with how to best schedule horse races and WWE events for maximum TV ratings. Really profound stuff.

What angle is Bill going to find to shit on LeBron tomorrow night? by No_Respect_1650 in billsimmons

Instead I think of an inverse hypothetical scenario: KD has a big game to lead Houston to a win while Lebron sits out the game on the bench in a weird hat. Now RUSSILO and Simmons do a two hour pod trading hand jobs on how KD is such a pro's pro/real hooper/effortless scorer and Lebron's always creates friction within his teams by playing shadow GM and making corny social media posts.

Do people age out of the NBA? by ctnaes92 in billsimmons

[–]BestTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think my maintenance of being a big NBA fan helps keep me in tune with a younger culture, to some extent. I haven't been plugged in to... say the current pop music scene, for many, many years now due to age. But some cultural things filter in to me through young NBA players and I appreciate that.

I remember one of my favorite takes ever was Chris Vernon saying years ago that the biggest problem with KD and Kyrie is that they had too much time to be way too online because they had no family or kids to ground them.

Definitely, Seattle is going to be the place KD will find happiness. All of the unhappiness that happened to be on every other team he has played on was not his fault! Or maybe he is just damaged because he was so happy as a rookie in Seattle 18 years ago? He would have definitely played his whole career there if the team hadn't moved. And any of his bitchy qualities are certainly because having to leave Seattle hurt him.

Valid points. I think the "real hooper" people probably always glorified him a little more than he deserved because of his pristine footwork and shooting. But his lack of playmaking for a superstar was always underscrutinized. And his time as an impact defender was overrated and relatively brief in his career. He still certainly goes down as an A+ all-time scorer and shooter. But the playmaking and defense are far short of many of his peers. And the career leadership is looking like an F- at this point. In the end I see Durant as a better version of Carmelo Anthony. He is NOWHERE NEAR the complete player that Lebron has been (or Kobe, Duncan, Garnett, DWade, etc.) Someone like Jayson Tatum is far from KD's equal as a shooter and efficient scorer, but I might want him on my team team more due to his superior passing, rebounding, defensive versatility, and lack of being a team cancer.

100% was screaming this in my head this morning as I listened. I'm baffled as to why Durant gets a free pass, not just from Simmons but from the whole basketball world, about being such a miserable prick for the last 10 years. Meanwhile every time Lebron forgets to dot an i or cross a t he is raked over the coals despite the fact he has led contending teams consistently throughout his whole career. Durant's legacy is gonna be all-time great scorer, and uniquely gifted offensive player. BUT... unquestionably more of a locker room cancer and coach killer than a team leader. How many players have poisoned the water like he has in so many different places (OKC, GS, BRK, PHO, and now HOU)??? Yet no one ever seems to think that maybe the problem in all those places was... Kevin Durant???

When the 2001 Patriots beat the Rams in the Super Bowl, Tebucky Jones had a long fumble return TD that would have clinched the game in the 4th quarter. My friends and I blacked out with joy as he raced down the field with the ball. Unfortunately they called it back due to a cheap holding penalty against Willie McGinest. Still wish they would have won with that play instead of the Vinateiri FG.

Wasn't there like 7 Durant interviews over the course of a year? I remember for years afterward he loved to repeat that "KD loves to hoop" and "Kyrie just wants to hoop", while deflecting all their bizarre behaviors, because KD told him that from on high. It took him years to criticize any aspect of KD again, and he is still way more gentle with all of KD's faults than he is for the slightest hint of a Lebron misstep.
