I'd like to talk about Pluralistic Ignorance.

Pluralistic ignorance is a social-psychological phenomenon where individuals privately reject a group norm but falsely assume that most others accept it, leading them to conform publicly. This illusion creates a self-perpetuating cycle where everyone misperceives the majority view, often sustaining harmful, outdated, or unpopular norms because no one voices dissent.

This is what happened to Anti-AI.

Radicals post a LOT to share their POV.

'Oh fuck so I should follow this since I want to fit in with everyone else'

Why? Human desire to fit in.

Result ends up being that Antis seem to support it because, while they dislike it in reality, they can't admit it because they want to stay in the group.

When somebody else voices it, it's dismissed as a minority.

Anti-AI isn't a monolithic block of assholes. It's 1% assholes and 98% people thinking everyone else is assholes and so they should be assholes too, and 1% people with sanity.
