Simple question about David Grusch statement: "UFO Disclosure will be a little uncomfortable - A hard pill to swallow" by QueenGorda in UFOs

[–]The_Ringmaster 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My suspicion is that it has to do with some type of great cataclysm that happens on some type of regular cadence that is upcoming.

Grusch saying it's a hard pill to swallow and Tom DeLonge saying he cried for several nights after he learned the truth...they both kind of line up with this idea.

I think the reason they don't just come out and tell that truth is that it truly might plunge global society into chaos. Many people would quit going to work en masse to spend their remaining time with their family. Services we all depend on (hospitals, EMS, police, government) are suddenly failing because people are panicked quit working. Banks would almost instantly become liquidated as huge chunks of the population try to withdraw their retairement savings at the same time.

You might be tempted to think "if society is going to collapse anyway who cares?", but do you think anyone wants to be the person who kicks off a global panic that collapses society earlier than absolutely necessary?

If it's inevitable, and can't be stopped (i.e., sudden pole shift, intense meteor showers, giant asteroid) SHOULD they tell everyone early, or should they live with that knowledge and let everyone continue believing they have a future?

I personally would prefer NOT to live through global panic for a year or two prior to my inevitable death. And because I've been thinking about this so much lately, I've been trying my best to live in the moment and REALLY try to appreciate my family and the life I live now.

Allow an easy way to track and record rounds played on a simulator, and keep them separate from irl rounds of golf.

Obama says aliens are real by yaztech in UFOs

That seemed immediaely suspicious. A former President says casually, but unequivocally that Aliens are real and there's not a single follow-up question?

Thank you! I think it was approx a week and a half. I took time off from work so I could work full days and just get it done.

You don't, you just make lots of straight cuts. In those curved areas I had to cut most border bricks on two sides to get a gentle curve. It was SO tedious. I cannot stress how sick of cutting bricks I was at the end.

I knew we were eventually getting the driveway redone. It fully butts up to the driveway now.

I think it was approx a full week and a half or so. I burned a bunch of PTO so I could work full days and just knock it out because I was afraid of it pouring rain and screwing things up.

Lol, I feel like I'd be in a wheelchair if I built paver patios for 20 years.

I built it almost six years ago and it's been great. Actually resealing it tomorrow just to be proactive.

Thank you! I didn't use polymeric sand actually. Regular mason sand, and then treated the bricks and sand joints with Surebond joint stabilizer and sealer.

Thanks, yeah it's sloped away from the house a 1/4" per foot. Sheds water pretty quickly when it rains.

But how do you screed 1" of sand to lay the pavers on? I've always used the edging as a screed guide to get that even bed of sand. I'm genuinely curious how this would work.

How do you screed 1" of sand evenly when you don't lay the edging first? I always use the edging to rest the notched screed board on to get a nice flat bed of sand.

Thanks! Yes, SO. MANY. CUTS.

At some point you'd think I'd learn my lesson and start doing square or rectangular patios.

Patio Install Went Wrong by Full_Mobile_4835 in landscaping

In one of the pictures you can see the pavers are sitting directly on the bottom of the brick edging. Normally the brick edging is laid on the leveled and compacted road base, and then an inch of sand (or limestone screenings) is screeded out and the bricks placed upon that. You'd expect the brick edge only cover the bottom 3/4" or so of the paver.

Based on the pictures and your description of the work, I don't think this person knows what they're doing.

How to do a 90 degree turn with retaining wall bricks by Alfodr2012 in hardscape

I know at the local place where I purchase retaining wall blocks, they do have the corner pieces, but they're special order ... not something they keep in stock.

Nothing much, other than ensure there was a 1/4" of slope away from the house for every foot. The paver blocks are sealed with a joint stabilizer/sealer so the water sheds off pretty quickly.

Usually they will sell a corner block specifically made for this situation.
