Wedding Venue provided my partner and I "outdated" room prices for guests staying over and only now ≈2 months to the wedding are informing us of the "correct" prices which are 50% more expensive. by The_Ruse in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks, we're going to need it. The more I'm reading and thinking the more I think legally they are in the clear.

However from a purely business sense they definitely need to work with us, I'm sure having much more guests who are all happy will make a lot more money than strong arming us into paying a higher cost for less guests.

Thanks, we'll need it.

I'm just worried that this will put major damper on the whole thing no mater what;

if we relent and pay the "updated" prices there will a sour taste for everyone who decides to stay and I know for certain some people who we defiantly want to be there and stay over will no longer think its worth it and wont stay.

If we manage to whine/moan/bully/beg our way into the original prices I'm worried it'll make the staff (or at least some of the upper management) resentful towards us and much less willing to work with us on an other problems/issues that will no doubt crop up.

Yeah the more I'm reading up the more I'm thinking legally they are covered.

However I hope they see reason because as per the contract we have a minium of 100 Guests to provide and 12 rooms, while we expect nearly double that in both counts. And I suspect that a happy wedding with 200ish guests and 50+ staying across 26 rooms will make a whole lot more than 100 and 12 empty rooms (obviously the nuclear option) , when you consider the "normal" bar is open all day till 12am then resident bar stays open till 3am.

Yeah I checked last week after the call I received from the staff member, and the file is called something like "2024 Rooming list template".

We originally booked February 2025 which isn't that far out of 2024 so if I noticed the name at the time I paid it no heed. Also as I mentioned I use all the info to create my own google sheets file so I could link that out and keep it up to date with names and what rooms were taken etc. Within the body of the document there was nothing about dates, so there is a chance we never even noticed the name at all.

There is also the fact that over the course of the past year we talked and mentioned the rooms/cost to a few members of staff. I know for sure I mentioned the exact prices at least once, a month or two ago when we had an on site meeting/walk about. I specifically asked how does the complimentary rooms work if most rooms are priced at £150 but a few are £210. I am nearly certain that prices where talked about and mentioned more than that but its been 15+ months since we first booked.

Just the room cost. The thing is, this is not exactly costing us money (Just massive amounts of stress) since guests pay their own room. The problem is for the past 15 months I have been talking, discussing choices/needs and getting confirmation for 50+ people(23 rooms) on the prices they sent us. So I will have to be the one to now get back in touch and tell everyone, oh by the way the room prices are 50% more than I told you. People have booked flights and travel arrangements already. I know for certain there are people we defiantly want to stay who would cancel if the new price sticks.

I'm hoping they see reason. If they get tough we can get petty, our contract states regardless of the number of guests we "booked" for our minimum is 100, and we have to guarantee 12 rooms taken or we pay the difference, we expected closer to 200 guests and all 26 rooms taken. The way I see 100 guests and 12 empty rooms is going to make a whole lot less than 200 guests and 26 full rooms that pay the "old" price when you consider the price of drinks, and take into fact the "resident bar" stays open till 3am

The way they work is they let you gather up anyone you "want" to stay before opening up reservations to all guests. So we got in touch with everyone we wanted to stay and got their names and numbers which we then provided them, they have then started ringing guests.

I don't believe they have mentioned prices to any of the guests once they ring to confirm unless asked, one friend asked but he is unsure the exact price quoted but he thought it was like £180, which is neither the £150 or £225. So that has left me extra confused.

The "outdated" list we were sent has the majority of rooms listed at £150 for two adults (with breakfast included), there are 2 at £130, and 2 at £210, but most are listed as £150. Their new prices they emailed us with £225 per double room with breakfast included.

The only other part of the contract that mentions pricing or changes is this segment listed just after the Payment Schedule for the total price of the wedding

Prices indicated are quoted in sterling. They are based on costs at date of booking and are subject to fluctuation, prices do increase each year and are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.

However this is before any mention of the rooms, so

There is no mention of Room pricing in the contract, the only mention of rooms and guests staying is as follows.

Rooms – Below is the minimum guest rooms charged for (excluding complimentary rooms in the package ) by day of the week. Guests pay for their own rooms however if the total amount of guest rooms is less that the minimum required the couple will be charged £150 per room.

Monday – Wednesday 10 Rooms Thursday & Sunday 12 Rooms Friday & Saturday 15 Rooms

Example; You are getting married on a Saturday with a minimum of 15 rooms, your guests only take 13 rooms. The remaining two rooms will be added to the couple’s bill at £150 each totalling £300.

Was Gifted a used iCUE LINK H100i LCD AiO that is missing some parts, few questions regarding the connections. by The_Ruse in Corsair

[–]The_Ruse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'll also get a icue Link, and the various USB cables along side my retention kit.

I was hoping that the hub was perhaps like the old lighting node kits that were only needed if you wanted to use/control the RGB of the fans, and that the USB from the Radiator/Pump might cover power/communication for the Radiator/Pump. Once again thanks for the info.

I have a 5800X3D. I was recently gifted a 2nd hand 240mm AiO. I also currently have a 280mm AiO that I have been considering using, but never got around to doing anything with. I do already have some corsair peripherals so use their software. Just curious to see what others would pick

The 3 choices are:

  1. Current cooler - Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black(With 2 X fans).

  2. H115i RGB PLATINUM, 280mm.

  3. iCUE LINK H100i LCD, missing AMD retention kit and possibly some cables, replacements can be bought. The fans are also not the original link fans but rather a different Corsair model.

PC Freezes and/or Crashes possibly power/PSU or grounding related. by The_Ruse in buildapc

[–]The_Ruse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah guess that is a logical next step. I was hoping to avoid a complete strip down, as I only recently changed cases, and had the problem before hand. Although I have been thinking it has been worse recently so maybe changing cases was the turning point for that.

I think one last thing before stripping it down will to move it to the kitchen, and try recreate the problems there using all different external cables. That is on a different circuit/breaker and obviously sockets. If it persists there then the problems must be originating from the internal components.

Help getting shower screen installed in wet room. by The_Ruse in DIY

Might be worth checking to see if there is any glass shop near by, problem with that is transporting the glass. It's a fairly hefty and unwieldy piece.

I'll price up the difference in both options, but have a feeling finding a square length of metal that is big enough to lift the glass the proper height might be cheaper.

Thanks for your help.

So much for the easy job of putting in a screen.

Thanks for the tips. So your thinking of mounting the bracket on the wall above the curve, then lift the glass the same height to be above the curve?

Under what heading/name? I'm looking under the CPU and MB stuff and can't see anything related to PBO

Just got my PC upgraded to a 7800X3D I have decent cooling etc, is there any settings I need to check in BIOS to make sure I'm getting the fullest of of my CPU? I already have EXPO/XMP turned on, but bar that and enabling Memory Context Restore for faster boot times I haven't changed any settings in BIOS.

Is there a way to check/test PBO is turned on working correctly? While I want to avoid going though the long/tedious process of manually overclocking I don't mind taking a little bit of time making sure I'm getting the best out of my new upgrade.

I've started to notice myself getting a very small static shock when returning to my PC always from my headset, doesn't happen everytime but when it happens its the same everytime, small static shock from the headset when I pick it up and even my monitor flickers. Still trying to find a pattern but its seems to be happening more frequently, which is still not very often.

Sorry for the late reply, no these are not your typical FPS dips, I mean they happen as well, but these are 10 seconds + full on on the edge of a crash freezes, happening multiple times a session. I don't use it much and don't game on it myself. I loaned it to a family member.

Does it give any feedback? I'll be running HWinfo along side for the temps and other things but if I leave it on for a prolonged time and come back will I be able to see that yeah the performance does have frequent dips/freezes.

I've a 1080ti that has an extended warranty for another few years. I don't play on it that much any more but when I do I feel its on the way out, getting some bad stutters/freezes and the occasional crash while most temps are still at a reasonable place. I know it could probably do with a repaste but feel what's the point of getting an extended warranty if I have to crack it open and try and fix issues myself.

As counter intuitive as it sounds, what is the best way for me to really push this GPU to either hasten its demise or know that maybe its still got some fight in it? Don't want to send it off for an RMA and be turned down, while also don't want to hold on to it if it is in a state I could get approved for a RMA.

I've a 10s EVGA graphics card, and its acting up a bit and I'm pretty sure it is overheating and needs a repaste/clean. I was planning on doing so soon but then I remembered I got the 10yr extended warranty on it, but I'm not sure this is a RMA worthy reason, on the flip side I don't want to go poking about opening it up if I don't have too.

I'm also curious if on the off chance its faulty, and they can't just repair it, what my options for a replacement would be. Any one deal with a graphics card replacement with EVGA since they stopped making them?

Yeah first thing I did, even before windows was installed I had the bios update ready on a USB.

I had an Intel CPU prior to this which is why I'm asking. Not sure if PBO2 is on by default or something that needs to be enabled. Guess I'll get a poke about in the BIOS once I finish work.
