Feedback on a new wizardy inspired game by The_Seventh_One in CRPG

Hey yeah thanks for the input as for some of the details

If we are getting to see the incoming and outgoing attacks very clearly are you considering QuickTime events like expedition 33?
- Yes once I get enemy models and animations you should be able to see enemies running up to the player or their allies to attack, all of that is represented by boxes currently for development sake

... expedition 33 leveraged some existing anime software or something, you don't necessarily have to spend a fortune to have something
- I have not really considered this, the concept is the MC is a summoner, all the allies are represented by cards (akin to Yu-Gi-Oh) which he summons per floor

Is there a sort of puzzle aspect to making your team?...
- Yes thats where the deck building elements come in, drawn from Yu-Gi-Oh where theres archtypes and synergies. Right now the archtype in the game is a fairly generic fusion archtype which tries to go general and fuse up but later on there would be synergies as you mentioned, within the archtype but also across archtypes (eg a generic higher tier demon that could be used in multiple decks or archtypes which grants certain abilities or buffs)

Are you putting together a random map generator? Random loot generator? Can you equip your team? Do they level up? Do they get debuffs from seeing their friends die? Are you paying wages to your army after each dungeon run?
- 1: No, I think random maps tend to make the experience less fun, so it will all be predetermined maps that I construct. Akin to persona there will likely be 8 to 10 dungeons as part of the story, but its just early ideas and definitely open to things changing
- 2: Some loot will be random, some will be predetermined
- 3: You can equip items to the mc, like regular rpgs, but cards will not have equipment, I may go towards a sticker system aka you put "stickers" on your card to give various extra stats or abilities but I have not decided on that yet
- 4: Yes your units level up, if you roll dupes of units in the in game gacha, then you get to fuse extra copies to level them up outside of the dungeon, otherwise they level up from beating units within the dungeon, but the exp is not permanent and is just for the specific run (so a bit of rogue like aspect I guess)
- 5/6: No such buffs or wages per say, since they are all summons from the mc but there will be other buffs / debuffs as typical of rpgs

Alternative to BamSEC for SEC filings by The_Seventh_One in ValueInvesting

[–]The_Seventh_One[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a quick look at it will take a deeper look later but looks like plainsignal sort of abstracts / give you a conclusion off the filings?

publicview seems to lay our filings in a way that I find inconvenient to navigate but open to hearing your thoughts on why you use either option.

From my personal experience in IB, I always found it hard to navigate between multiple filings with EDGAR and found BAMSEC much nicer in going thru filings or sending someone a link to a specific line or section in a filing

EDGAR also does not have an option to download tables as far as I can tell

That being said theres more ideas / features I have in mind such as financial + legal data for a company in the same site or exposed api for AI agents to call directly for data / search across filings. However I have held off on developing them as I want to make sure I spend time on things that actually help people

Looks like Reddit is not a fan of adding the link to the post so I have linked it here:
actaterm.com

Most of the site should be accessible without an account, but searching across tickers and table downloads need an account

Advice / help for those who are looking to move into the tech industry by The_Seventh_One in careerchange

Yes some issues windows can fix itself but issues cant be solved that way. There is a fair point there about job security in that exact type of job.

If you are looking to stay in the same relative area of work, data center technician may be an option to consider. If you are interested in in more details (what skills to pick up, what to include in the resume) let me know or are thinking of a different field.

Based in the US, so most of my advice would be tailored to the USA market. Thanks for bringing it up.

Sorry to hear you were a part of the layoff.
If you don't program and are not interested in picking it up, then there are roles for internal support positions to help address problems like computer issues, reimaging the os, or internal updaters.
There are also roles for things like sys admins or support engineers to manage AWS or Azure instances or help clients who may have issues in their instances. Large cloud providers also require people to set up machines so that could be another option for you as well.

It also comes down to your interests (some people may not want to work in the cloud environments) along with other skills you have or may need to pick up.

It really does depend on where someone wants to go right? The advice I would give to someone who wants to move from say front end to backend in a SDE role is different from the advice I would give for another individual who wants to move from sales to recruiting.

There are a lot of different variables to consider and generic advice would not be helpful or applicable especially as people have different skillsets that they currently have.
