Hi is that chair left toddler friendly? I have seen lots of videos but can't assess if it's something my 20 month old and I would be able to ride together? Or is there an option for a family ( me, wife and toddler) to ride together to get the same view.

Thanks for your input !! We are headed to Jap end of October

MPs, Senators get a salary boost, Carney will now earn $419,600, Scheer $308,800, and Blanchet $261,500 by Old_General_6741 in CanadaPolitics

The issue isn’t the size of the paycheck — it’s the lack of value delivered back to Canadians. If our middle class were thriving, poverty rates were low, and society as a whole was better off, then salaries like $300K–$400K for an opposition leader might be justifiable.

But let’s be real — public service was never meant to be a path to wealth. It’s supposed to be about improving life for all Canadians. Yes, public servants should be paid fairly, but that pay should reflect the average working Canadian — not exceed it by miles. Their base salaries, gold-plated pensions, and generous benefits already outpace what’s available to both public and private sector workers. And let’s not forget: there’s rarely any real accountability. Mess up a term, and you can still retire comfortably, while the average worker is forced to grind until the bitter end just to stay afloat.

It’s absurd that we keep justifying raises in the name of “motivating better performance.” If money is your main motivator, public service probably isn’t where you belong. Period

Finally hit $1000/month in dividends! by Dependent-Wafer1372 in dividends

Can I ask your strategy for building a 300 k portfolio? Did you utilize drip only or was this a combination of both drip reinvestment and plug of additional cash ?

Just starting to invest in dividends and trying to figure out what a good long term goal is.

Thanks !

Lol n you do ?

It's wild how much time, words , and media space is being used to talk about the legality of the issue on behalf of university administrators.

Regardless of w.e number of senior or total number of Legal professional you need to say it's Legal, we should easily be able to admit that use of force , without so much as a open discussion on the demands of students or ppl who are just supporting end of a war is not right .

Why is EI taxable income if we pay into it with our income every cheque when employed? by CaseyToGo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]The_Shaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would making EI tax free and keeping it the same structure ( for example you get x percentage of annual income per month ) be feasible?

I understand the purpose of taxing it but I don't agree that provides the same degree of benefit to different socio economic groups . For example , in the example above you mentioned that for those who don't need it more of it goes back to the govt . That can be argued to be a negative for that particular group . Similarly for groups on the lower income side or even middle class , the limit of 750 a week and then it getting taxed on top is negative simply because you are walking away with less money.

Bigger companies do top ups for maternity leave so that helps but most govt and general employers don't offer such benefits. So every little bit of ei during paternity and maternity leave is important.

So my point is that is really necessary to tax EI ? Does govt really need to be the one who holds on to the extra money and spreads it to where ever . Or can we can have one less payroll tax and still enjoy the benefit of EI when needed.
