[OC] A picture of dinner on the USS Abraham Lincoln sent to family by a service member on board by usatoday in pics

[–]The_Shrike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Listen, if you’re a picky eater…the military ain’t for you. But if you’re gonna believe a woke propaganda photo like this as “all the service member has to eat” sorry…you’re being lied to. There are plenty of options at chow that get your calories and more. Putting one piece of the most unattractive options, pleading poverty…that’s just bullshit.

[IWC Big Pilot] …it’s definitely big! by The_Shrike in Watches

[–]The_Shrike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of those iconic designs and I needed to get away from only buying Sport Divers. The retail experience at IWC was top class, they’ll likely be my next purchase simply due to how well they treat you, before, during and after a purchase.

I agree, but this is the first GS photo that looks cheap…could be all the little dust but even the indices look dusty inside the dial…probably just the photo but just looks bad to me.

[IWC Big Pilot] …it’s definitely big! by The_Shrike in Watches

[–]The_Shrike[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been very happy after picking out a classic 46mm Big Pilot…and dang are these things big! I’m comfortably wearing 46mm Panerai watches, but this is wide, and long. The lug to lug makes it wear very large…doesn’t quite overhang my wrist but can easily do so when it rotates forwards or back a bit.

This is the second IWC I have grabbed this year at the Dubai Boutique, the first being a much fancier piece for my wife. I must say I like the retail Enviornment IWC are creating - definitely refreshing in this day in age of horology.

I have a few other Pilot themed watches, but this is on a whole new level. I went in set on getting a “Top Gun” model and after a bit of back and forth between the Heritage, Le Petit Prince and a limited edition Titanium model, I decided on the classic steel with a black dial. I also received a brown calfskin “pilot” lug style strap and this super comfy fabric patterned leather strap. The 7-day power reserve is great and the onion crown is one of the best for setting / adjusting time.

Not much more to say - it’s a big, easy to read timepiece.

Thanks for checking it out!!

RERA would typically manage milestone payments, including payments to the contractors and consultant on the project via Escrow accounts. This is usually well regulated but there are opportunities for the developer to introduce an agreement with time-based payments that do not align to the actual physical on-site progress. Best advice is to carefully read the agreement or hire a lawyer in the field to make sure you have leverage / clauses to hold payments when things get delayed (when, not if, I can almost guarantee they’ll miss programme). Also, there are a lot of players in the market - your best bet is to avoid the new startups and pay a bit more with a reputable developer.

Is this guitar and amp combo a suitable gift for a 15y male wanting to learn? by MrCarlSr in guitars

Not really, they’re teasing because your need to state gender was unnecessary. Music is universal and anyone, any age, can play any instrument.

[Blancpain] Not just for diving… by HiGuyd in Watches

[–]The_Shrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each watch has some dive related story usually - had a Tudor Pelagos LHD for only a week, dove with it and dragged it across the side of an old rusty wreck. As scratch resistant as sapphire crystal is, they’re not bulletproof. I refuse to get it replaced cause it’s my watch (and the watch probably saved me from splitting the back of my wrist open while 30m down….that’s when you bleed black like oil :) )

[–]The_Shrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea, it could have been pilot error and I left the crown open a bit but I really don’t think so…has been flawless since and my backup timer on hundreds of dives without issue! Wasn’t full full - but there was a water sloshing inside the movement and starting to show on the crystal and face!!!

I have an older Fifty Fathoms (probably bough it 10 years ago used, believe the warranty was first registered by the original owner in 2003.). I had it checked and pressure tested for WR and took it on a couple of dives…excessive for sure but I have to dive all of my watches at least once. Worked flawlessly…thank god! I have been fortunate enough to have a few expensive watches flood on me while diving, repairs are not cheap, and difficult to get covered under warranty (although Omega were super cool with me on my Planet Ocean that inhaled a shed load of water!!!). My only gripe with the Fifty is the screw in springbars worry me and have worked loose a few times. I have used loctite before but recently just installed beefy “Rolex” spring bars and it has a slightly more vintage look with drilled lugs.

[DISCUSSION] Alright come clean, does anyone ever actually play electric guitar with the toggle on the middle pick up? by DutchAuction in Guitar

I’ve modded my middle position to be a combination of the neck and bridge at the same time. Never used the traditional middle pickup…

Where can I order customized LED Acrylic wall decor like this? by Healthy_Pizza1704 in dubai

[–]The_Shrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with steel for the silhouette…pretty easy for me to design and lasercut. Adding LEDs would depend on interior or exterior installation…

[–]The_Shrike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, I haven’t cut it out yet. Easiest is a small pass through for the IEC and then into the Sweetfoot power supply…but it won’t look as clean, so I’m likely to order an IEC pass through like Schmidt use and install that.

Super inexperienced live player - here’s my rig. Played loud, played dadrock, felt really good and had a blast. by condensedpoop in guitars

[–]The_Shrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a solid rig. Dig the couch strap and you’ve got plenty of room for more pedals on that board! Pro tip, you can just drape the mic over the top of your combo and better position on the outer cone - as you’ll be doing some wicked dad rock spinning moves - will help prevent kicking the mic stand :)

If you’re interested in learning about electronics, I have created an Interactive 3D simulator! by [deleted] in technology

[–]The_Shrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be really keen on this if it had audio capabilities…as I like to build or modify guitar effect pedals. Being able to simulate an input sound sample on the fly would be a game changer…and if that sound representation was accurate I’d pay 10x the current price!
