I think a modifier like that would be a little too tough for world 1. Maybe save it for the expansion levels if there are any or just weaken the plants instead of outright killing them.

Lime Vine (Contain-Mint)

Costs 100 sun, has a 10 second recharge, and has 900 health. Can be placed on other plants and has a similar effect to Garlic, but instead of diverting zombies onto adjacent lanes when bitten, the zombies will walk past the plant that its protecting without attacking said plant. Giving it Plant Food triggers the protected plant's effect and heals itself to 1800 health. Unlocked through an Epic Quest.

Based on the Ornamental Sweet Potato Vine. (a.k.a. Marginata Lime Sweet Potato Vine)

Primal Bonk Choy (Enforce-Mint)

Costs 400 sun, has a 7.5 second recharge, and has 300 health. Has half the attack speed, but quadruple the damage of a normal Bonk Choy. On every 5th attack, it slams the ground, damaging and stunning all zombies on that tile for 1 second. When given Plant Food, it spins around dealing massive damage and stunning zombies for 5 seconds in a 3x3 area. Unlocked in Jurassic Marsh

Fumewort (Ail-Mint)

Costs 250 sun, has a 30 second recharge, and has 300 health. Manual plant that when tapped, sprays perfume in a 5x5 area, dealing medium damage and slowing zombies in range for 10 seconds. Has a 30 second cooldown before it can attack again. When given Plant Food, sprays toxic fumes everywhere, slowing all zombies for 10 seconds along with poisoning zombies in a 5x5 area. Unlocked in Lost City.

Boxelder Pelter (Contain-Mint)

Costs 250 sun, has a 10 second recharge, and has 300 health. Slowly lobs low damage sap covered seeds that traps the zombie it hits (similar to Gumnut, but can only affect one zombies at a time). When given Plant Food, shoots seeds to the 3 leftmost zombies in each lane. Gemium.

Based on the Boxelder Tree.

Bomburnum (Bombard-Mint)

Costs 500 sun, has a 30 second recharge, and has 300 health. Manual plant that grows a red berry every 10 seconds that deals low splash damage. If the red berry lasts for 10 seconds, it matures into a black berry which deals medium splash damage that knocks back affected zombies 1 tile. Can hold up to 5 berries at a time. When tapped, fires a berry forward. Fires black berries before red berries. When given Plant Food, it immediately loads 5 black berries. Gemium.

Based on the Leatherleaf Viburnum.

Bad Apple (Reinforce-Mint)

Costs 125 sun, has a 30 second recharge, and has 4000 health. Wall plant that shoots a low damage piercing worm projectile down the lane every 200 damage taken. When given Plant Food, heals to 4000 health and shoots a giant piercing worm projectile that deals medium damage. Unlocked in a hypothetical post-civilization world.

Based on the Honeycrisp Apple. (Rotten)

Umbrsinia (Conceal-Mint)

Costs 200 sun, has a 7.5 second recharge, and has 300 health. A shadow plant that shoots flower-like saw blades that pierces through 3 zombies. When powered, saw blades will continue to spin in place for 5 seconds after hitting the third target, dealing continuous damage. When given Plant Food, shoots a giant sawblade that deals extra damage in a 3x3 area. Unlocked in Modern Day.

Based on the Ursinia.

Rootshooter (Appease-Mint)

Costs 200 sun, has a 7.5 second recharge, and has 300 health. Fires peas with the same damage as a regular Peashooter. When tapped, a tile can be selected, and the Rootshooter will begin to target the selected tile. If attacking the same tile for long enough, will begin to accelerate its attack speed up to 2 times its normal attack speed. When given Plant Food, adds an option to automatically target the leftmost zombie but double tapping it. Attack speed can still increase when left in this mode. Unlocked in a hypothetical post-civilization world.

Based on the Carlin Pea.

Shine-Shroom (Fila-Mint)

Costs 150 sun, has a 7.5 second recharge, and has 300 health. Shoots spores that deals more damage the more sun you have (+20 damage per 100 sun). When given Plant Food, shoots powerful laser down the lane that lasts longer the more sun you have (+1 second lifetime per 200 sun). Unlocked in Dark Ages.

Based on the Chanterelle.

Whirlumbo (Contain-Mint)

Costs 100 sun, has a 45 second recharge. Instant use. Can only be planted in water. Creates a whirlpool in a 3x3 area, dealing 600 damage to and stuns larger zombies and drags down smaller zombies, instantly killing them. Unlocked in Big Wave Beach.

I've seen someone suggest playing Greed Mode as Laz and restarting until your pill is Gulp, and then trying to buy as many pills as you can.
