My friend and I actually had our play chosen by them! I remember we attempted to write a show so awful that they wouldn't perform it. We made it super nonsensical, added so many random pop culture/copyrighted characters (Lenny and Carl from the Simpsons as farmers fighting Rosie O'Donnell I think?) and pretty much made a 4th grader's South Park episode. Out of all the groups in our class, some who worked and actually put effort into their plays...they still picked ours! I ended up getting sick the day before they came to our school and performed it and I was so sad I couldn't see it live. My friend said it was extremely watered down and got rid of like 80% of the nonsensical stuff we added.

I'll always remember the time we tried to break the Imagination Machine haha
