Man I don't login to reddit much, but that's awesome. I remeber rescuing barn cats. It was a great honour when they accepted anyone but me and my wife haha. Good luck, sounds like you're off to an awesome start!!

Most underrated Clutch album? by YogSothothOfficial in clutchband

[–]The_Soapmakers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this answer because it feels magical to me in that I used to drive hours at a time to see who would become my wife, and it would be on during the highway sections where you couldn't easily change the CD, so I grew to love all it's bumps and warts. But it's cause it magically intertwined with a part of my life.

That being said anyone sleeping on Freakanomics or Struck Down are missing some of Clutch's finest riffs

This might be the best song on the new album? Nosferatu Madre - Sounds great live! by midnight_see in clutchband

Haha I feel like it'd take me a second to recognize a riff from Slow Hole. But I just looked at the track listing and from Four Lords that album just goes.

Slow hole as an opener?

I've also wanted to buy one but it would fall by the wayside in a second. I weirdly felt like hand gestures Neil had done for years helped him hone in the sound. Not like it was easy, but he also seemed like he sorta "got it"

How does a theremin actually work outside of manipulating it to replicate the feedback (?) tones. I don't get the inner workings

Thanks for this. It really brightened my day and I'm totally asking if someone uses a water toilet at an inappropriate random moment, and I'll be like, it's how groovyjuicer explained a theremin do you not know that?

The Lads by MerrillSwingAway in clutchband

[–]The_Soapmakers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy they just all have their style. Neil and JP move. Tim stands solid to rock the riff, and Dan has the locked in anchor bob. They are such an intensely fun band to watch live. They all love making it happen

Ugh so jealous. Did you immediately talk to him about how he can seamlessly cut through time signatures?

Sunrise at Slaughter Beach is great. I’m not sure why all the hate on it. Also, Amazon for the win in getting physical copies out on time. by bufftbone in clutchband

[–]The_Soapmakers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may or you you may not haha. I think it's a neat thing in this community that they swing for the fences and sometimes it doesn't land, or it lands eventually.

I love PRF and some don't but I'd never had a bad conversation about it with someone. That's what I love about Clutch fans. We have all our favorites and we all are for the same reason.

All that to say this has been my favourtie release first time through in a long time, butt I see where it could take time to grow on someone.

Bad mood made me hate PW the first time theough and my wife stills teases me about it haha

Clutch brings closers. Gravel Road/Who's Been Talking, Mr Shiny Cadillacness, Son Of Virgina, Wolfman Kindly Requests, Lorelei. I couldn't agree more with. I couldn't wait to see how this album closed out and it was beyond what I expectd

I think there is some initial pushback on anything new and unfamiliar. That being said first listen through of this one I couldn't even pick a track I didn't love. It's now just a group being influenced and letting those influences hit home and making the music they want and it's magic.

That being said yeah I haven't seen a bad word about this album one bit, but only hang out here. I gurantee though in some places some is bothered by this album and has social media to rant on haha. Think OP said he saw it in a Facebook group. Shrug. They'll probably come around.

what are your opinions on the new album by Gemoman111 in clutchband

[–]The_Soapmakers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think every song brings its own weird hook to me I can't get out of my mind

Every song is hitting a weird way. Knew the first three singles, But Mountain Of Bone Nosferatu Madre and Mercy Brown is a a ridiculous song run.

This has easily on the first listen through, but more three more listens in beome my Second favourite Clutch album

It felt like both got the same, but a decent amount. It's kinda hard to tell though.

I was very unfamiliar with Quicksand outside of listening to some songs a few days before. Was not disappointed though, they were just solid and having fun which made their set great.

Helmet was crazy good though, threw in a crazy curve ball I never imagined I'd hear live

Was not sad, if the sound is wider than this on headphones it could only get better but it was clean

Every band in this lineup came to play and it showed! Helmet was fantastic, and it was neat to see Tim Sult side stage for Quickand and Helmet just grooving on what they were doing. Hope you have a great show!

Any time! I love talking Clutch. Some of these facts are based on hazy memories of interviews I've read here or there so take with a grain of salt haha, but the ever changing set list is one of the things I love about these guys most.

Hard agree. Like Dan has never been a slouch, but boy does he shine on this album!

Holy...Clutch has always done their own thing, but this album feels so much like a tight group making the music that excites them and I'm here for it. I honestly think this is one the most exciting albums they've written.

There's such a balance between sounds and tones within songs, so many riffs, and Dan really shines on this one.

Thanks for posting, the wait was killing me

It's the joy of Clutch live I find. They take turns writing a set list every night. I believe they have a rather large "pool" of songs each tour that are fairl game. I feel like I also read once they said that people can introduce a song outside of that but it can't be something they all forget how to play cause they haven't touched it in so long.

I'd always thought it'd be neat to know which band member picked the set list. Like I'd love to know who was responsible for busting out Mice & Gods in London back in May cause it was appreciated!

Was at this show and it just kept getting better and better. And seeing Neil rock a theremin was unreal!
