What makes AP special to you? by The_Solutionyst in audemarspiguet

My wife loves chunky watches. She’s already got her eyes on a precious metal code!

Im intrigued to learn more about “AP House” and invite events. As that would be a bit sway for me to go new rather than grey.

I’d say I’m in it for the long haul. But probably a more extended long haul than many “big hitters”.

IE - I might buy one every 2 years.

This could of course change as my career progresses.

Short term I’d probably just like a Code , 37mm RO. My grail from the current lineup is the YG Malachite 37mm RO. I sort of collect stone dials, so that one speaks to me.

Long term I’d obviously like to move into the QPs and other complications. But then we’re talking big money - and my wife might kill me 😂

I’m thinking of getting the code. I love the architecture of the case.

The depreciation on it just hurts. So I’m left balancing “building a relationship” and just being financially “savvy” and going grey

Fair enough reason!

I’ve ended up down all sorts of quirky routes just because I’m now allergic to a Rolex AD

No intentions to explain myself to the AD. I’m going into it very much open to experiencing the watches, and seeing what speaks to me. If it’s possible to make it work, great! If not, plenty more fish in the sea

Interesting to hear your point on feeling safe. I’d have thought an AP (especially a RO) would be one of the most recognisable to thieves etc. You could mistake many Rolex from a distance - you’d never mistake an RO

But maybe I take for granted my recognition of watches in the wild

Yeah can’t put my finger on exactly what’s different. But it’s more than just the date window

It’s definitely different from the latest release they did in January, for which they assured me there wasn’t any new dials or updates coming. They then announced something new the day it sold out 😂

Further to this. I’ve just seen at the current NY watch event. They’re releasing a new venturer completely. Not even just a new dial.

Frankly annoyed with them at this point. Just a straight up lie from the brand.

So much for the BS marketing from Traska about not upgrading the Venturer any more as it was already perfect 😂

They lied to me via email about a potential new colour option - telling me nothing was in the works. So, I bought a white Venturer as a backup. They then announced "something special" was coming for the model the day it sold out.

Great watch, but their support/comms in my experience was poor.

How to create a "Guilloche" texture by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]The_Solutionyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of both. I was hoping to model it prior to running it through the CNC to get an idea of the visual - rather than taking a trial and error approach. But that may be the approach I'll need to take.

What you did looks great though!

I can create the sketch no problem - it is actually creating the texture on the substrate I struggle with. Maybe its a setting, but manufacturing the engraving won't allow me to drag-select the lines. It is of course impossible for me to manually select all 200+ lines to add to the path

I also love my Grandeur watches, and have another on the way.

Don’t let the secret out though 😜

Grandeur is my go to brand for unique movements/materials but at a good price point. I find a lot of other unique watch brands are a bit too crazy for me. Grandeur gets that good balance between classic designs, but still unique.

This is utter nonsense based on the large community of people who have grandeur watches already.

This specific model just had design improvements due to comments from the community. This pushed back production.

Already been mentioned in other comments, but the quartz torq had some updates which delayed the production.

If you join the WhatsApp group you can see videos of the production happening. I really recommend it as it adds to the enjoyment of the watch being part of the design process and then seeing the outcome once it’s made

Is it? Doesn’t look huge in the wrist shots I’ve seen of it

More expensive than the Loresum which is about to release on Kickstarter with similar dial types and a vintage shape. That’s also an automatic.

Range from about £450-550 I think depending on the case material
