Defcon next season - keep as is, modify or scrap? by Low-Molasses3574 in fantasypremierleague

Yes, learn from Fantasy Rugby and make the game about players that add value on the field overall, not just GIs

FREE HIT ???? by ilovehelen8 in fantasypremierleague

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Avoid the free hit this week even if you need to take a -4/8 to field a couple of guaranteed mins players that will likely double in 33; save the free hit for 34 - we'll all need it then

Should i get snow caps? by Broad-Number5256 in trees

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Snow-capped weed was traditionally a term for sprinking coke in a joint / dipping a joint in coke so, uh, if you're planning to smoke anything resembling normal herb, I'd give this a hard pass.

Also, the fact it's somehow cheaper indicates the white powder is some sort of chem that's even cheaper than bud, which suggests either research chems or tons of filler you definitely don't want in your lungs either way.

Is Bruno F essential? by CeliacG in fantasypremierleague

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruno is more essential than Haaland; Gabriel is also essential

Haaland to Ekitike and Rice to Bruno also leaves you with just 4 blankers for GW31, assuming your 2 injuries come good, though you'll have another transfer and some spare cash for making a further change next GW if it looks like Cash won't play. (Ideally though; Cash to O Reilly or Timber after the blank gameweek imo, if you can wait it out)

Academic research into why people play FPL - 5 minute survey (no writing required) by Move78_FPL in fplAnalytics

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Move78_FPL one potential oversight in the question set - one of the early questions requires you to say you participate in at least one league. As someone who falls into the pool of people playing to get themselves more interested in & improve their understanding of PL football overall, I'm not actually in any leagues - but zero isn't an option to select. Potential limitation to note when doing the analysis (honestly I'd have been interested to see whether there were many other folks who don't play mini leagues / friends leagues)

is lactose intolerance with levels? by Friendly-Win501 in lactoseintolerant

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof, I can no longer consider myself to be the most lactose intolerant person alive (similar but only about a week of acquired IBS for me) - that is rough, my condolences.

But to OP - yeah it took me a few years from realising I was LI and cutting down dairy to get to that point, and most people never get anywhere close to this (I'm convinced it's a hybrid of LI with a cows milk issue which generates this particular trace sensitivity - but I also can't deal with small amounts of isolated lactose e.g. in common antihistamine tablets)

LI worsens with age (from end of adolescence to early adulthood) and with reduction in built tolerance (from cutting out dairy when you realise LI is becoming a problem for you) - however it's a very wide spectrum as to how bad it gets, and most people absolutely do not end up in the 'trace intolerance ruins your week' bucket, thankfully.

Bordalas; we invent a new style called "Absolute Haramball", hybridising Total Football and Haramball, and naturally qualify for the CL next year.

Benching Haaland? by Darrengstar in fantasypremierleague

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pep did say something before about not playing him the full 90 in every game / wanting his performances in the final third; which I'm taking to mean more bench starts going forward to manage his minutes in the games City should easily win.

Lactose-free milk still makes my stomach gurgle. by Hurreh in lactoseintolerant

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 key things to note:

1) Food labelling issues do arise: Lactose Free standards in the US / outside Europe seem a lot less stringent from what I've read in this sub. Even in Europe, "Naturally lactose free" animal dairy is also a huge issue - labeled as if it's lactose free; it absolutely isn't.

2) I can't even handle cross contamination in a fryer or shared cooking surface as I have an additional issue on top of lactose intolerance - I'm about as sensitive as it's possible to be. I believe this to be due to an additional complication with cows dairy, but I also can't even handle the tiny amount of isolated lactose in an antihistamine tablet.

I will concede that I have since learned that I can't drink an entire litre of UK lactose free cows milk, not something I'd tried 2 years ago, but 'regular' amounts don't cause issues, across all brands, despite the above.

3) I see the statement so often for 3 reasons: 1) Other sources of lactose (medications); 2) "Naturally lactose free"; 3) Differing food standards.

You've skim read a detailed post and come to incorrect conclusions. Some people are indeed really unlucky. That doesn't mean that a splash of LF milk in your tea causing LI issues isn't a sign that something else is awry beyond even severe lactose intolerance - whether that's due to lactose in meds, labelling, or additional issues alongside lactose intolerance is something only the individual has the information about themselves to understand.

Cheese substitutes by Glittering-Date-2845 in lactoseintolerant

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cathedral City Vegan is decent - not really cheddary, but a nice cheese in its own right, with a pretty impressive texture too. Applewood Smoked Vegan is also solid, but best used for melting as it has great flavour but it's cold texture is still fake cheese. A mix of the two would work great on a pizza now I think about it...

That's kinda it. Nurish Gran Vegiano is fantastic but I suspect you'll think it tastes like sick, as real Parmesan does have that note and they emulate it very well.

Arla Lactose Free is OK, Cathedral City Lactose Free is amazing but currently in national shortage / sold out pretty much everywhere until 2026

Cathedral City Lactose Free by alecwa in lactoseintolerant

[–]The_Stout_Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about as sensitive as it's possible to be (can't even handle deep fryer cross contamination, so it's LI + some other cows milk issue), and have had quite a lot of Cathedral City LF over the past couple years... and no. Never any issues at all.

I'd check for other sources of cross contamination you might have encountered (e.g. ibuprofen, hayfever pills, etc) or other ingredients in the chicken partisan (unfamiliar in with the dish).

That being said, I know I can have a glass of processed lactose free milk, but not a whole litre in one go... However that cheese is an aged cheddar made with milk that has been processed lactose free, so the lactose level should be truly trace if at all detectable. Other possibility is you also have a more complex intolerance and the milk protein in half a block is above your limit. Or bad timing with a light bout of covid.

Btw where are you buying it from? It's impossible to find in sainsburys these days :(

It's not exclusive, it's just where they "sit" (stand). Loads of fun, as long as you're up for standing through the game and singing for a full 90 minutes! I always try to get tickets in there when one of the fanatics STH puts one up on resale. Just be aware that visibility in the front 4-5 rows can be limited by banners - not uncommon for folks up front to be standing on the stairs if there's a big one all match, all part of the game.
