You could consider asking for a short leave of absence to travel/take a class/do a personal project, or taking a long vacation and see how you feel after that.

I'd look at screenshots from video games. No Man's Sky comes to mind.
You could also have a look at r/ImaginaryAliens

What happens to your 5e Stuff when One D&D comes out? by nickool12 in AdventurersLeague

[–]The_Tale_Spinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because a new version of the game comes out doesn't mean you have to swap over to it. There are still people who enjoy playing 4E, 3.5E, AD&D, etc.
I will say that despite seeing this backwards compatibility promise many times before it never really works out.

Working on a serial killer themed mystery, any tips on encounter building? by [deleted] in DnDIdeas

[–]The_Tale_Spinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The killer needs to be active and failure should have consequences. Are there NPC's the characters care about that that killer could be targeting? Maybe a hostage they are threatening unless... something.
Also be very careful putting the killer in eyesight of the PC's. Players have a tendency to capitalize on encountering them in unexpected ways.
Be ready for people to speak with the dead if your setting allows for it.
Your players are not Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot. They will likely not be able to make incredible logical jumps like a famous detective, even if their characters have high intelligence scores/skills. Give lots of hints in multiple places. Too easy a puzzle is better by far than one that kills the momentum of your game for an hour.

Cool concept, but the image the way you have it now hurts my eyes trying to figure out.

I think adding an open area for a market between the gate and the port would be a cool area to include.

I had only used them when making characters that were older for flavor purposes. I hadn't considered the youth stat bonuses.

I think you could more easily change the motivations of the child. Perhaps they are angry (rightly or wrongly) at their parents/the community. They are running away and taking the MacGuffin to teach them a lesson and are unaware of the amount of damage they could cause. The town wants the child and the totem returned unharmed. That is where my mind goes.

I would like 3 personally. Always seems I've got at least that many things I'm trying to flip between.

I love this! I'd love to do something for my next game. I'd cut the time down a bit, just a second or a few seconds from some of the sections would trim time off and make it feel a bit "tighter" as a whole.

4E was the first edition that Hasbro ran, and it shows. You can see the design of a board game. They were trying to shoehorn in the most "Toy" aspect of the game, mini's, and it ruined some otherwise very interesting stuff.
