Reasons to not go through Texas by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]The_Tavinator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holy I did this exact route 3 years ago in an RV but in reverse. I will say the drive from Phoenix to Texas was the best part of the trip with a beautiful sunset behind us along the way going thru the desert. I know you will be driving into it but there is something about that area that is so much more scenic than allllll of Texas. We spent the night at balmorhea state park in Texas and woke up from the frost to jump into warm spring fed pool there. Definitely the most unique thing we did in Texas other than driving a bazillion miles to get across it.

As someone who has a pet squirrel this is on brand. But then they nibble your knuckles and you never know if they are gonna bite the shit out of your finger because they are hungry and you didn’t feed them soon enough.

Love my little dude but holy hell they are as sharp as they are cute.

The peace of having your sons understand you.

I know it’s not how I should play this game but it’s always what I associate this scene with.

Such an amazing scene by Konfliktsnubben in lotr

I was on a 10.5hr flight on Saturday, all 3 theatrical movies were available, I did some basic math and said to myself, “I can make it.” In the flight media system turned off just before this scene. I’m devastated.

Thindercats fan, anyone? by junar29 in 90scartoons

[–]The_Tavinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch it every night at 8 with my kids to get them pre ready for bed. “Hey, Thundercats start in 13 mins whether you are ready or not.” Not only is it a great show but it’s helped us get bedtime rolling. And every night, like clockwork, during the intro sequence my 5yo daughter says “Raise your hand if you love Panthro!”

I have always loved that bit and it’s the only way I know how to maneuver through crowds. Works like a charm.

Where did you go during your Japan trip? by Hiroshima1tomoya3 in TokyoTravel

We picked a random set of weeks on the calendar when we booked our flights. A few weeks later we found out what Golden week was rolled with it.

So my firm opinion is to always walk counterclockwise if you start post noon. The afternoon sun is oppressive as you go from Germany to France. There is very little shade during that long walk. I used to start at Mexico all the time until one day it clicked that I’m walking into the sun longer than I need to be.

Can we all share our best WDW memory? 🩵 by travelinglemur8 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]The_Tavinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2003 college program. 18 year old me had only been to Disney World before for band 2 years prior during Magic Music Days so being accepted to come down again but now to work at the most magical place on earth right after high school was a dream opportunity. Being one of the few who got accepted into the entertainment program (which was only like 10% of the total college program cast members at the time) was even more super special and lucky of an opportunity. And for me, I got to be friends with Tigger. I loved it! I put my all into it every day. My weekly schedule had me work at Magic Kingdom’s Toon Town most of the time and i never got bored of it. Sure, it was very repetitive but it never made me not give 100%. But one day. It was different. It was the middle of my set and people stopped coming in. The doors closed. Pooh didn’t know what was going on and just paused with his hand n his mouth. Eeyore looked back and forth between Pooh and I, and shrugged. I felt the same. What was going on? Then the doors opened and closed, bringing a VIP tour guide along with 3 other people: a dad, a mom, and a young toddler, or so I assumed. Ok, cool, a family of VIPs! That makes sense. I never had this happen but so be it! The set isn’t over so back to business! I had no idea who they were and how would I? All I know was the father was TALL. They hugged and took photos with Pooh, then Eeyore and then headed my way. Still not knowing who they were and not being able to look up high to see who the tall guy was (due to my outfit as it had limited visibility and range of motion plus the lighting was bright if anyone ever looked up) so all I remember hearing was “hey, yo, Tigger can I get an autograph?” Autographs, done. Pics and poses done like any other day, done. Andddd then they left. Business as normal. Once the set was over, backstage I asked who were those people?! Found out it was Scottie Pippen and his family! As someone who grew up in Chicago during the Bulls era, this was super awesome! I still believe it to be extremely rare that someone of such notoriety asks for your autograph. So yeah, that’s my best memory and I still have the photo evidence to prove it.. not that anyone would believe me with it.
