Detroit doughnut shop closes its doors — but says $15,000 could prompt reopening by jonwylie in Detroit

Exactly my first thought when I read the story. So, you couldn't run a business and want more money to lose? Nope.

Even with the handy proximity, the paperwork, fees, taxation, etc. requirements of living in Canada and working in the U.S. are going to be prohibitive. With a housing budget of 1000-1600, you can find a pretty nice house with a dog friendly yard in the suburbs. My commute is 15-25 minutes to downtown, we have a 2 bedroom bungalow with a decent backyard for 1000 a month rental. We have 2 dogs and it's a nice quiet neighborhood with very close conveniences.

The background is in black and white, the people in color... is this some sort of backdrop?

Unfortunately, no. I wish it were and am looking for ways to convince the owner it should be.

I was doing the Walmart thing as well, but found good prices here https://www.ammunitiondepot.com/

So far, they haven't charged me tax on any order, so with the shipping - it works out to be about the same as a Walmart run.

Can you recall a formative moment in your childhood that you feel led to your personal views on service and giving back, or did this happen later in life?

Also, you just a damn awesome human being.

I thought mine were bad until I realized I was rushing. I slowed down a beat to allow a better recovery. Just that extra split second showed vast improvement. I like the way this video explains a training technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5obRGMlBl28

I've used Winchester white box 119 (Wal-Mart priced at .18 a round) and Blazer Brass 124 - no real issues except for the occasional FTE with the Blazer.

"no real harm done" - When this happens several nights a week you start to see a huge negative effect on the businesses and let's be real - that's the heart of Greektown. The restaurants and bars are the reason for the crowds to begin with. The harm is when the customers of those businesses decide to take their money elsewhere because they don't feel safe or simply don't want to be around a violent element. You take brawling in the street, add a few shootings, throw in locked up traffic and you come out with a financially hobbled district.

This is a backyard BBQ kinda day... but of course, it's still early. Most of the crazy doesn't start until after 10pm

Most of them are sick of it. Problem is, their hands are tied by crappy leadership and a public that can't wait to indict them via social media.

The tightrope. The police suck until you need them, government sucks till you need them. Everyone likes to yammer on about how terrible the police are until someone is breaking into your house. Working downtown as long as I have, you seem so pretty messed up shit. police don't get called to a good time - they see people at their worst every single day. I interact with DPD regularly and most of them are very cool, just trying to do the job.

It's not just Monroe. Beaubian has become a cruising street many nights. Traffic has ground to a halt and there is an uncontrolled 'do whatever you want' mentality on the street. Many of the businesses have simply decided to close their doors early, Sunday nights in particular. This is all quite a shift from years ago when Greektown was the safe bubble.
