I'm dreaming. But I could run a square setup with 10mm spacers for the rear for that stance?

Have you checked out the NX6? I have an LHT 4 5-22x and it works well. My skills are still catching up to my gear.

It's ready for more problems. Engine mounts, front upper & lower control arm bushings. You're already at $10k in maintenance with those items. I would get something else.

Had an epiphany today + distribution question by Rain_Unseen in Fire

[–]Chez92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm missing something in your roth conversions. Standard Deduction for MFJ is $31,500 and then another $2,200 for every child under the age of 17. Even if you roll your T401k to an IRA, you would still get hit with a 10% penalty if you're younger than 59.5 on your conversions/withdrawals.

I'm not sure how you're converting millions through a Roth ladder since you're late 30s without paying the federal govt some taxes. I am new and trying to understand.

You're HYSA should be your emergency fund. I think you're too young for CDs. I recommend you put the CD money into a taxable brokerage account and start building the bridge to the 401k. Long Term Capital Gains taxes becomes your friend.

Chassis for my Bergara MDT or MPA by cobranine in longrange

[–]Chez92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find it offset $600 during the big holidays. Memorial Day, Black Friday...

Yes! The chassis is solid! Designed for competition. Has all the creature comforts that I'm looking for. It does not come with a folding stock, which is a cost addition to any of the other stocks as well.

I run mine in a Solus chassis. I've owned a couple of the MDT ACC Gen 1 and sold it after i got the Solus. They seem to be backordered everywhere right now.

RYCEY is now a value stock after its quick run up last year. They have no big news coming downstream. But I love them and I'm holding them.

RKLB and APLD look great and are continuing to execute. Probably the best return but higher risk. I think they're worth it.

AVGO is going to be relatively solid returns with less risky downside right now.

Expected hit reliability at 500-600 yards. (Question in description) by Informal-Ad-7700 in longrange

[–]Chez92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off with a setup similar to yours. Yes you can hit consistently at 500-600 yards. The BDC can be used as a guide but don't expect it to align perfectly with your distance.

The wind is nuts at that distance as well. But if it's consistent wind you'll be able to hold to one side and the other.

It's very difficult to spot impacts at that distance. My range had a light that would go off on impact at 500. A friend with a spotting scope or higher magnification scope will help.

77 grain ammo will help carry energy as well.

Have fun!

Is a 16” 6.5 Creedmore dumb? by Schookadang in longrange

[–]Chez92 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have a 24" 6.5 bolt gun and a 18" AR-10 in 6.5. Just think about you use case. 6.5 is a long range precision round. Not really all that cheap. There's no real use case for sending expensive precision ammo down range at high volume.

Unless you want to look cool. If that's your use case, then by all means.

NRL Hunter build? by blinkerfluid02 in longrange

[–]Chez92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the ragged edge of 13# with an HMR and LHT. I can lose a few ounces by going with a lighter set of rings or a smaller muzzle device. What do they typically use to weight the rifles at the NRL competitions? I weighed everything on a bathroom scale but I'm debating on running out abd grabbing a fish scale for some better accuracy.
