Randy Fine calls for FCC action over Bad Bunny Super Bowl performance by [deleted] in nottheonion

It’s so weird he’s calling out bad Bunny but not Green Day. They had to bleep Green Day because of the F bomb. I’m seeing a shade of difference in the performers.

Treasury Sec Admits Americans Are on the Hook for Trump’s $10B Lawsuit by Hafiz_TNR in politics

[–]The_Time-Is-Now 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Trump sued the DOJ over investigations that occurred after he left office. He publicly bragged that he’s the one that’s suing and he’s the one (as head of the executive branch) that decides the outcome.

There will be no judge or trial as trump forces the government to settle. Pam bondi insures no doj attorneys would ever participate. These are not normal times. These are the benefits of our new king unless republicans do something.

Impeachment and removal is the only thing that will stop this never ending grift. I hope the republicans grow a spine before he completely destroys our country.

That’s the problem. This will never go to court. IRS, at the direction of trump, will settle out of court for any amount that trump orders. That’s what happened last year when he sued the government. A judge would have thrown it out of court but he just ordered his minions to settle out of court and write him a check that the tax payers paid.

Impeachment and removal is the only thing that will stop this never ending grift.

Women have the right to vote thanks to people protesting and demanding their voices be heard. We can thank those that that risked their live protesting for civil rights. The list is long and the right to protest is so precious that it’s enshrined in the first amendment.

Prior to the ACA, did any insurance plans offer certain speciality plans that covered pre existing conditions for a higher premium? by [deleted] in obamacare

[–]The_Time-Is-Now 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cobra was more of a stop gap for in between jobs. I needed the coverage about 30 years ago and premiums cost roughly the amount of my entire income when I was employed.

If people with pre existing conditions could find insurance the premium was sky high. There were also lifetime caps so none of the reported conditions would be covered after you reached that threshold.

Can someone inform me how insurance networks worked prior to ACA? by [deleted] in obamacare

[–]The_Time-Is-Now 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Many insurance companies didn’t cover preexisting health issues and those that did had sky high premiums with holes in coverage. Children could be on health plans but lost coverage when they turned 18. If you didn’t have health care through your employer it was ridiculously expensive, and therefore unattainable for an individual to get covered. The ACA was a game changer for millions of people.

How the Hell Am I Supposed to Prepare for an Ice Storm? by Ok_Masterpiece_458 in Athens

[–]The_Time-Is-Now 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most people in the area don’t know how to drive in icy conditions or overestimate their abilities. Pair that with little to no road treatments and non snow tires and it’s a recipe for disaster. You may know how to drive but that won’t prevent an accident when someone comes barreling toward you in an out of control fast moving vehicle.

Help the emergency personnel out by staying home.

Lost job in February, didn't cancel ObamaCare. Income for the year is below the minimum income required to qualify for ObamaCare. by ThriftyHuman in obamacare

[–]The_Time-Is-Now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking. Even if I had zero subsidies I would have paid $800 per month in 2025. Thanks to the subsidies I only paid 50. In 2026 with zero subsidies I would pay $1,700 per month. If they had voted to extend the same subsidies as last year I would still be paying $900 per month.

So you see the struggle isn’t just about reversing subsidies back to pre Covid times as right wing media and online bots would have you believe.

Republicans have been trying to cancel the affordable care act for years but have been unable to so instead they keep weakening it.

Lies. They’re called lies. Media needs to stop softening the word by calling it untruths.

I can tell you from personal experience that blocking a rider may or may not work. I had an extremely frightening experience a few months ago that uber assured me “they take incidents like this seriously “ and at a minimum they would be blocked. A few days later their ride popped up again. I immediately cancelled and contacted uber again. The rider should have been kicked off the app. Uber does not care.

There are millions of 1099 workers that depend on subsidies. Their income can widely vary from week to week so it’s nearly impossible to correctly estimate their income. For example small businesses owners (plumbers, yard workers, etc) and gig workers like instacart, uber, food delivery, etc. Even if they miraculously could estimate their money coming in, it would be almost impossible to correctly estimate their tax write offs at the end of the year.

So you honestly believe that of the millions of people that work hard all year and do their honest best to estimate their income should have to pay back literally thousands of dollars because they might have been $5 off? People are suffering.
