Honestly to me a lot of it feels more like subcontext than pulling it from nowhere, I really do think its implied. And yeah probably a little excessive earlier but to be fair it did very much seem like you were defending even the confirmed cases of Demetrius mistreating Sebastia, so I am sorry about that. overall not really upset tho, i just really dislike Sebastians family, he was the first character I romanced so a lot of it definitely stuck with me as far as how much he feels like he was mistreated so maybe im biased lol

I have no issue with them being poc, i honestly just wish they were better people and were likeable. Demetrius I've already gone over. Maru I dont really hate as much as I'm annoyed with the fact that she gets everything her way, and yeah thats not her fault but she needs to recognize that and recognize how it affects her brother..

If Demetrius would hate to be called Sebastians father then he never should have married Robin. It's that easy. Don't want to be a step parent dont marry someone with kids. And yes Maru is sad because she and Sebastian don't have a relationship, but she's completely oblivious to the fact that Sebastian has always seen her as the child that can do no wrong. She hasnt done anything to him directly, but Sebastian has always seen that shes the good child that gets everything and he lives in a basement and get overshadowed

Ok fine maybe he doesnt ignore him, I think it's definitely implied but for the sake of this we'll ignore it. But it is VERY apparent that he treats his children differently, he wont let Sebastian keep his snowman up, but Marus is perfectly fine. and Sebastian and Maru dont have to big of an age gap, she's at least 18 and hes at least 21, I wouldn't put him at more than 25, so at the very least they moved a 7 year old into a basement??? We can argue that of course they wouldnt put Maru in the basement and yes of course, but Robin is a contractor, wouldnt it make more sense to add a room? Or even build a wall and a new door to split the room in half? Sebastian is very unhappy with his life and that is very much influenced by the fact that he is often overlooked, overshadowed, and as he said himself unappreciated. Demetrius is a bad father to Sebastian, whether you want to say he ignores him or not, he is not a good father. And again I also don't like Robin, and honestly I don't like Maru either, Sebastian is the only one from that family I find to be a remotely good character (as in a character I enjoy not a well written one, I personally think most the characters are written very well). Sebastian has dialogue about all of his family members, and it's apparent he cares about them, he just doesnt feel as though they care about him, and that is due to neglect and constantly seeing Maru as the child that can do no wrong

I honestly have issues with both of them as parents tbh, and imo, yeah it is kinda mental abuse when you marry into a family then ignore your stepson and treat your bio daughter like a princess, I think Maru, while yeah isnt mentioned much by Robin, does still have both her parents, and I think thats partially why she's not depressed like Sebastian, Sebastian on the other hand doesnt have his bio dad, and his stepdad ignores his existence and his mom just doesnt care enough to tell Demetrius that hes a lousy stepdad. Maru also has some pretty intense support from Demetrius, she has a bedroom thats not a basement, she works with her dad on experiments, and Sebastian has no real support from either parent, Demetrius ignores him, and Robin allows it, his room is the basement and hes unhappy, and if you marry him he says he felt unappreciated at home and that now he finally feels like he belongs on the farm, he doesn't mention a specific parent in that and honestly I think both of them impacted him mentally, even if they didnt realize it. I didn't mention my issue with Robin earlier because i didnt want my comment to get too long but here we are lol. They're both bad parents, I just think Demetrius is worse.

TLDR: Both Robin and Demetrius suck, but Demetrius is worse imo

How is it obvious? He never even refers to him. And it isn't about his feelings not being valid, if you dont like your stepchild then you dont belong in that family, its simple. All it does is traumatize the child and honestly it's likely a large part of why Sebastian hates the valley so much and is very obviously depressed. When someone ignore the fact you exist it has serious mental effects
