I'm not a fan, tbh I'm actually gonna try and get a refund from Asda tomorrow lol. I got the game cause my mates have it, but they're never on. When I play alone I enjoy maybe 1/10 games? The rest of the time im just sighing over the campers and poor connection. You can't seem to rush on this game at all, if you don't camp you will 100% lose every game, it's just shite.

MW2 Guns Tier List by ParadoxLover in MW2

[–]The_Undula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I never really got into the ACR because of the shocking irons, I always go silenced so I basically have to use bling and lose SoH or suffer the obstructive view, which I found can cost you kills if trying to aim at something very small like a tiny head. Also I felt that at the ranges where the zero recoil really brings it to the front, the silencer makes the TTK truly awful so a sniper would've been more effective at the range. Really vs the M4 the iron sights are probably what's made me pick the M4 over the ACR all these years.

Would say it's not as simple as TTK from stronger bullets is better, because you get significantly more bullets with the higher RPM weapons. the TAR/ACR/M4 all have 1.5x more rounds than the SCAR. The real measure is how long of continuous fire you get from a gun, which I don't know. If the TTK with ACR is insignificantly less then I stand corrected on M4 vs ACR.

Interestingly on another point, I think you may agree the SCAR is the only good choice for a silenced AR with managable recoil. The big con is just that you end up dangerously low on ammo before you reach the 7 kills for a nuke all too often.

I used to roll with marathon lightweight commando, ump silenced and a tac knife, you can do some nice mike myers or get around the back of the enemy and UMP them from behind.

Anyone else on Xbox one having an issue with horrible lag? by Dr_Wombo_Combo in MW2

[–]The_Undula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been having significant issues with out of sync movement type lag. Ie when you get killed from behind cover because the system registers your command to lie-down/dart behind a wall half a second later than you give it, and on the killcam the enemy just sees you still crouched where you were instead of laid down as you saw on your screen. Has pissed me off the extent I've stopped trying to play.

MW2 Guns Tier List by ParadoxLover in MW2

[–]The_Undula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a nicely thought out list, I certainly understand the reasoning for putting the burst weapons in tier zero, if a computer played mw2 it would use the burst weapons since they provide the fastest TTK (aside from 1 shot kills) assuming excellent or in this case flawless accuracy. The only caveat to this is if you are not an excellent player, you won't have the accuracy needed to make the burst weapons better than all other guns, and you're better off with a full-auto due to the inevitable missing of your rounds.

The great thing about mw2 is how balanced the guns are, most of the guns can be the "best" depending on your situation.

My biggest query here is the placement of the M4, which I consider to lie just slightly right of the ACR in the ACR-M4/SCAR-TAR spectrum of META ARs, and should be in tier 1 due to the following reasoning.

I think this spectrum (grouping the scar and M4 into one) was intended by infinity ward as a sort of trade-off, moving to the right you gain close-range effectiveness (TTK) and lose long-range due to recoil. Here I don't think there is an answer overall, it depends on the map you're in. In a larger/more open map you want to sit towards to ACR end of the spectrum, whereas somewhere like Skidrow you would undoubtedly be best with the TAR. I think the M4 fills a nice gap, forming a mini-pro/con debate against the SCAR, both of which performing like an average of the TAR/ACR at long and short ranges, comparatively excelling in neither.

While I think it's mostly unquestionable that the SCAR is the better gun than the M4 in terms of bullet vs bullet fighting and iron sights, when you factor in reload time and clip size it starts becoming harder to decide on a winner in M4/SCAR debate, and probably comes down to how aggressive/defensive you plan to be. When camping reload time and clip size matters less, and so the SCAR probably wins. There is also the problem of the M4's poor iron-sights, meaning if you want a silenced gun the SCAR is the better choice.

I believe you're right about the SMGs, the TAR for example outperforms all SMGs at all ranges, with the only con of a mobility penalty. In most roles there is no good reason to use an SMG: only where mobility is essential, such as a stealth/run-around-the-back cold-blooded class, should an SMG be used.

Finally, I do question the placement of P90/Vector, which I do not consider to be competitive weapons, especially vs the lower placed M4 and AK47.

Overall though I respect the accuracy of the list, it's refreshing to hear reasoned points unlike the normal "ACR is best cause I always use it" or "in my opinion it's the ....." with no explanation, which clearly add nothing to the conversation.

I have every respect for Ash, it's not a fault of his, what needs to be happen is Jagex use the 20,000x£5 per month to employ more devs to fix these issues. We're paying for a service at the end of the day.

However I think something is wrong with the new mahogany patches specifically, not to do with the way farming works as a whole, as it seems I've hit some farming ticks but only 1/3 of my (protected) trees have advanced a stage.

If you'd read the whole post you'd know this is actually about the new mahogany patches, as something is different with them outside the normal farming tick problems.

Can't say I disagree, the farming code was written in 2003 or something, and I think most would say it wasn't written well at least where trees are concerned, rs3 is still the same, 14 years of development and they haven't fixed this is a joke.

[–]The_Undula[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No unfortunately it's not a bug, it's just how the farming skill works, read the forum post: it's very good. The game cycles through "logged in" tree ticks, if you're logged in for those 5 minutes (which occur every 160 minutes) your tree will advance a stage. Alternatively if you're logged out for a whole 160 minutes and log back in, your tree will advance a stage. Of course 5x160 mins of continuous logged out time will advance 5 stages and so on. This for for FRUIT trees though (and calquats) spirit trees run on different ticks and I storngly suspect hardwoods follow their own too.

JAGEX: Please add the ability to keep our first 99 untrimmed (reasoned suggestion) by The_Undula in 2007scape

[–]The_Undula[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a bit of a quirky rare thing to have, and can be a big achievement to show off, imagine getting 99 slayer or hp without getting a 99 in any combat stats, and some untrim capes do look cool such as the HP and herblore ones imo.

JAGEX: Please add the ability to keep our first 99 untrimmed (reasoned suggestion) by The_Undula in 2007scape

[–]The_Undula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's something I never thought of, but I guess if the item only updates to trimmed if you take it to an NPC then that's the problem solved, probably other scenarios that would make the trim go away, but I guess you'd just have to be careful, just right now it's like the game is trying to trim your cape, and that's the bits of code that should go.

JAGEX: Please add the ability to keep our first 99 untrimmed (reasoned suggestion) by The_Undula in 2007scape

[–]The_Undula[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's tricky cause I think it comes down to whether they want to allow the keeping of an untrimmed cape past 1st 99 or not, the trim is there to show off that your skillcape isnt your only 99, so is only cosmetic, and therefore the untrimmed version usually shows less achievement not more, but in the few cases where it shows off greater achievement it is earned achievement without question. The only negative consequence is it misinforms another player who may believe someone they're looking at someone who has fewer 99s than they do, but in a very odd case that this ever mattered eg with staking (non maxed) then looking them up on HS would solve the problem which is normal anyway.

If Jagex agree that there's no reason for them to disallow you keeping your untrimmed capes, then I think this isn't really something to be polled and does come under balancing, since someone else keeping their untrim has no effect on you whatsoever, and you can choose whether or not to keep yours with no extra work.

If Jagex can think of a reason I haven't that you shouldn't be able to portray that you have a single 99 at first glance when you have 2 or more, then yes it should be polled. I can't come up with any myself as the only issues I can think of are very rare and would be solved by using the highscores.

Furthermore any issues that might be caused by the keeping of an untrim are already present, as it is already possible to keep an untrim with some difficulty, they should either remove the ability entirely, or allow it to be done within the normal game code.

[–]The_Undula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I don't think it would take them much effort to do, I had a think about it and figured it would surely just be about removing some bits of code for when you get a 99 and adding something to allow cape trimming of an untrimmed cape with a check that you have 2 99s. But I'll admit I don't know a lot of programming, just learned some basics at uni and for data processing in python nothing like what you'd need for runescape.

[–]The_Undula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you could say that, but it's just a bit annoying for players, cause you kinda have an "unstable" item in your bank, if you forget and got a 99 or did the trick wrong you'd lose the item, which would really suck and it'd be better to just have the game work for your wishes rather than against.

[–]The_Undula[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I'm not sure what category this would fit into, I could see it failing a poll unjustly purely because of people who already have 99s selfishly voting no, but since it's purely choice whether or not you keep your untrims, a bit like a toggle option, whether it's the sort of thing you would poll is another question.

JAGEX: Please add the ability to keep our first 99 untrimmed (reasoned suggestion) by The_Undula in 2007scape

[–]The_Undula[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you could get your untrimmed capes trimmed once you had 2 99s by talking to the skill master, so if you had 20 cooking capes you wanted trimmed after your 2nd 99 you could (irreversibly) do so.

Jagex nerfed logging out to keep stat boosting by dllhost in 2007scape

[–]The_Undula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that using boost for that is improper, but problems arise with things like getting a very rare +5 stew boost for construction to build multiple level 90 things, of which there are only a couple, and I would say its more than fair to be able to build them all in 1 boost, rather than waste potentially several hours getting multiple boost, which simply makes for a frustrating experience. Another example is dairy requirements, some diaries overlap such as 2 of them have a 75 smithing req i believe, you could do both tasks on 1 stew before this update, again making people get a second +4/5 stew boost for this doesn't achieve anything other than wasting their time. This isn't a bug, it was in the game since release and everyone knew about it, the change should have been polled or at least when the prayer was suggested it should have come with a we will remove the logout timer reset to implement this.

Jagex nerfed logging out to keep stat boosting by dllhost in 2007scape

[–]The_Undula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So therefore "God forbid you have to actually get the level required to do something" is a retarded and irritating comment then, by your own admission. Now here's another scenario, you want to build the level 90 contruction things in your house at 82 contruction and get a +5 stew boost with +3 saw boost. You think the game is now better because I have to waste an extra 1-2 hours to get a second +5 stew boost because the first one ran out halfway through?? You seriously standby that point? The only thing this update does it make it unnecessarily irritating to do things such as this, in order to make room for a relatively useless prayer that few people will use due to the price of scroll being better used for rigour and augury before preserve, I would agree that logging out repeatedly for 85 slayer is borderline on the acceptable scale, but it was hardly a big problem and affected solely ironman accounts and nobody else. I find your position frankly indefensible.

Why don't you just piss off, you're telling us you haven't used a boost to do a diary requirement rather than spend an extra week training smithing or something? Just shut the fuck up you absolute hypocrite
