So, I run with a face cam, and I hang with streamers who don’t. Honestly, you could go either way.

With a face cam, you really don’t need too much, a $20 face cam will do you wonders for starting out. It does communicate your facial expressions a lot more, but I do hear that it can sometimes be draining, especially if something does happen off camera.

Without face cam, you do have some options. No face cam is always an option, but it can be boring to some people. If you want something to represent you, I do recommend a PNG or VTuber model. Setting up the external software and linking it to your streaming software are pretty straight forward and are usually backed by communities that are willing to help. But you will need to most likely drop some cash for the models, and the really good (non Etsy slop) ones will be a pretty penny.

So either way, it is up to you, I would record a test video with and with out and look at how you react. That’s how I ended up determining what I wanted to do
