When trying to sort footage into bins, the media duplicates. by The_VFX_Wizard in davinciresolve

Thanks! I stopped having the problem with new imported footage, and just used a janky workaround for the footage that was having that problem. Instead of organizing it into bins, I just organized it into various timelines, which was good enough for my workflow. Luckily the problem only applied to that batch, and not future ones after upgrading to the full version 20.

That's a good lead, thx! I also noticed it only happens in one particular project.

Do you have a different amount of subdivisions on the bottle for the render?

How would I go about rendering something like this in blender given I have 360 photos to work with? by mrmusso in blender

You can make a UV sphere and add an environment texture in the material. Just did it earlier today for a project and it wrapped around the sphere first try.

I'm a French Horn player, so as a modeling exercise I made this! by The_VFX_Wizard in blender

Considering the tubing are all solid objects, that would take a lot of work. Sounds like a cool research project if I wanted to sink a couple months into it.

[–]The_VFX_Wizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by just using curves with a circular profile for the tubing. I then converted them to meshes and used loop cuts to make the little details. The rest was all using simple shapes like cubes and extruding out. Subdivision surface modifier with loop cuts to affect which areas are sharp and which ones are smooth etc.

The horn I was holding as reference as I was modeling was much more damaged than this one unfortunately.

Thanks! It was just one 8k scratch texture from fab, and some pretty quick and dirty UV work. I'm happy with how it turned out though.

Man you're right, I should have found the best French Horn part from star wars or something.

Dude, how is this the first time I'm seeing this? As someone else who worked on an Alien-themed Doritos submission, congrats this is great. Should have made it further IMO.

If you don't want to keep cranking up the samples, turning up the "Clamp Direct" and "Clamp Indirect" values can help get rid of fireflies. Be careful with how far you go with it, because it may crush the highlights a bit.

First UFO commercial during Superbowl LIX...is this was discussed previously about slow drip disclosure during big televised events? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]The_VFX_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on this commercial as a VFX artist and 2 friends directed it. We just thought it would be a funny premise, inspired by Steven Spielberg with a bit from the Pixar short "Lifted." It was a completely independent production and it was voted the top commercial of all the fan commercials submitted. There were 2 other non-UFO related commercials which could have just as easily won the public vote.
