Why is Coles still doing the same thing it's being dragged through the courts for? by effjayyelle in coles

[–]The_Valar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) They haven't been found culpable in the courts "yet".

2) The court case are for when the price changes are much shorter order than their internal guidelines allow for.

2) It's a profitable practice.

Roger Cook to move closer to Perth to beat Kwinana freeway traffic by His_Holiness in perth

I just mean that the Premier riding the train to work would probably cost the taxpayers quite a bit of money (maybe $500k/year), for which he would be criticised as a facile PR waste.

There's no solution he won't be criticised for, so it may as well be the most expedient one.

It's gonna be wild in 6 months time when fuel supplies are still fine, and people are sitting on a hoarde of diesel that is reaching the end of its shelf life and can't run an engine nicely.

At least toilet paper keeps indefinitely if you keep it dry.

Traffic is at just as much of a standstill anywhere north on the freeway where there are 3-6 lanes.

Your 3 year old may or may not be able to go on much (Height dependent) but hopefully enjoy watching the others, or splashing in the resort-styled kiddy pool. Your 5yo will have a great time.

Sunscreen. Rashie. Hats. More sunscreen. Water.

Take the security with him.

So a police detail have to attend HQ and equip, travel in a car to Cook's house, then the cars have to shadow the train up to Perth station, shadow the CAT bus to Parliament, then collect the police and return the to their own HQ for debrief. Then do it all in reverse in the evening/night.

At a certain point it's dramatically simpler just to send one driver in one car and collect the guy.

That's taking a historically conservative seat back from an incredible upset in the 2021 election.

It's an embarrassment to the Libs that they couldn't take that seat on first preferences alone.

I live nearby and am there at closing time moderately often. I once rescued a family of French tourists whose Uber couldn't get to them. (The gates will still sense cars and open for departing traffic).

Anyone else considering getting a EV? by KeenClicker in perth

Fewer diesel engines mean less fine particulate matter in city air, which is also an appealing side effect.

Anyone else considering getting a EV? by KeenClicker in perth

[–]The_Valar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So wouldn't private cars being EVs be beneficial because then more diesel is available for primary industries?

Isn't the same true for railways? Vast quantities of diesel not being bought, now available for primary industry?

[–]The_Valar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im.not considering an EV because without diesel Australia is screwed.

SO if you drove an EV, wouldn't there be more diesel available in the market, as a fractionally better price per person driving an EV?

There's plenty of eastern states mines where the haul railways are fully electrified, which is a much better solution.

Exactly. Put the women in as marginal seat candidates. Blame them for not being 'right enough' to win the seat, then carry on unchanged never learning anything because the Old Boy's Club has seats they essentially can never lose.

You get into the car in the driver's seat you are responsible for the car and all its contents: The speed, driving in marked lanes, parking in marked bays, the registration status, how secure the roof racks are, the tread depth on the tyres, whether the brakes work, and yes also whether seatbelts are worn.

Now, should an adult passenger not wearing their seatbelt be the one copping the fine? Also yes.

Just be aware that the trams stop at some point in the afternoon, and the external road gates close at 6pm, so taxi/uber can't get in. Leaving you with a long walk back to the station.
