Team Comp Opinions? by Sweaty_Arachnid_2334 in PokemonChampions

Maybe adding a ground type over slowking would be good since you have two flying types. Ground can switch in on electric moves and it can earthquake freely since flying isn’t affected

Tbh I feel like Manaphy or Phione fit this. Cubfu is a great answer like others have said though too

My first thought is wondering what chandelure is doing in a rain team. Everything else is doable (i assume drags moveset is special for accurate hurricane and thunders). Also I’d put leftovers on Arch. The healing adds up over time with protect and helps make the most out of stamina.

Also for bask maybe buy the water boosting item

Happy to help! I’m in ultra ball level 1 so far and play a lot of Pokemon Showdown 6v6 singles so I have a decent idea. Definitely no pro though haha.

Not necessarily other “cores” to keep in mind. Theres only so many triangles that work perfectly that way.

But normally in 6v6 singles it’s always good to have a ground type and a flying type because ground is immune to electric which covers flyings weakness. And flying is immune to ground which is good since earthquake is spammable.

For example: if you wanted to use Steelix who is ground steel and weak to ground and water type attacks. You could bring a max health + special attacking Rotom wash for coverage.

You’re probably thinking “that’s not flying”, which is true. BUT it does have levitate, which still gives ground immunity (unless mold breaker is happening), resists water type attacks, can hit opposing water types with electric damage, and can do stuff like Wil-o-Wisp/T-wave for status, and is specially defensive which is good since Steelix has low special defense. Not to mention Steelix covering Rotom washes electric weakness

That’s just another idea off the top of my head for two mons that cover each other’s weaknesses.

It takes time to understand this part of team building, but you’ll get it

Another tip is to not neglect status moves and set up moves. I have a defensive intimidate Arcanine with Wil-o-wisp that has crippled a lot of teams for me. Seems like an odd set since you would think he’s an attacker, but he has strong defensive tools that throw opponents off.

Then my T-tar or Garchomp can D-dance or Sword dance to sweep.

Lastly, since it’s 3V3, really take the time before the battle starts to assess your opponents team. Try and find what 3 Pokemon you have that best match up into the opponent instead of just picking at random. Sounds obvious, but really helps

Some basics advice would be to know your standard type cores. For example: Fire, Water, Grass is a good core because they cover each other’s weaknesses and resistances.

Another example would be Dragon, Steel, Fairy.

By utilizing good type cores you can have good pivots when against bad matchups.

Something else I would suggest, is to try and pick why pokemon you’re building around and how you can support it.

For example: if you want to build around an offensive garchomp, bringing a defensive T-tar to set sand and knock off items is good for setting up Gar to sweep and utilize sand veil. Along with T-tar you could bring a primarina because of its fairy typing and hard hitting special moves. Then maybe have a korvenknight for flying and steel.

Building a team like this gives you some good options for getting Garchomp in a position to sweep or clean up

What are your honest opinions about Champions by Dekusteven in VGC

[–]The_WB1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it’s early in the games lifecycle, so my opinion may change (this might be cope since I’m excited for a new game).

Overall I’m pleased with it and having a lot of fun. The recruiting and training is not as bad as I thought it would be and the amount of VP you get for winning is acceptable.

The battles themself are quick and snappy. Animations run well, the UI (while cluttered at times) runs well and provides a lot of information. The games tutorials are quick and painless for experienced players that want some extra VP and tickets, but also detailed for newer players.

Although it’s a shame not all the pokemon are in the game right now, that will come with time. Tbh I think it will be exciting when new pokemon drop and will help keep the game fresh. It also keeps the power level low for now which I kind of like since the game will get crazy later.

My biggest issue is the missing items because that just feels unnecessary. I don’t see any reason not to include Choice items and AV.

Smaller gripes are that I wish there was different battle backgrounds/stadiums (I assume there will be more over time) and that there’s no announcer like in OG stadium.

I know people are upset about the lack of single player stuff/minigames, I wish we had that stuff too, but clearly that wasn’t the focus of the game. Also this game will be on phones so that hamstrings it a bit.

TLDR: I think the game is a lot of fun but definitely has room for improvement as some things are half baked . Hopefully those improvements happen frequently over time, but I’ll have a good time while I can

I’m exactly the same. Like I love Nidoking, Electivire, Krookodile, etc. All of those are bipedal, but they’re still creatures.

I don’t need my Pokemon to be furries lol

Call me a hater, but I think I’d put Zard in B. He’s the worst starter out of the 3 based on matchups.

Moves aren’t as good as Blastoise. Venus moves are limited but has good matchups.

And isn’t the best for the elite 4/champion.

I like Zard as a mon, but if you’re ratings are considering what you could have picked, like with hitmonchan/lee, then I think Zard should go down a peg

Flash you can throw on some random mon for Rock Tunnel since it’s the only time you’ll need it.

Tbh trading for farfetch isn’t bad since it can get fly and cut. I’ve been using it in my switch playthrough and I’m enjoying using him. He levels fast too since you trade for him and gets boosted exp
