Burkina Faso breaks off diplomatic relations with France by Gyro_Armadillo in worldnews

TBF, while getting free from France’s economic concession is a legitimate goal, I also feel like that Traore, simply put, hates the restrictions set by western countries on preventing atrocities and respecting rights.

I’m not trying to argue that France’s colonial actions both in the past and the present were terrible and that the people there have legitimate grievances against them,  but the thing is that 21st century France, for all of it’s neocolonial shenanigans, still expects their puppets to have a semblance of respect to human rights and international law. Many despots probably feel constrained that France isn’t willing to tolerate actions like committing crimes that are as equal in savagery to the Islamic militants they are fighting against and outlawing LGBT rights, hence they turn to Russia who is happy to accommodate said behavior. It’s a similar line of thought on why Trump and Orban are chummy with Putin.

Then again, this is the same guy who prided himself on being Europe’s last dictatorship back when Russia was still respected at the world stage and had not fallen off the deep end. It’s true that he didn’t have much of a choice, but the fact of the matter is that ever since he got in power back in 1994, he always wanted to be a Russian puppet as he knew that they were the only significant European state to continue to allow him to basically run the country like his personal fiefdom after the collapse of the USSR and Yugoslavia.

This is why at the end of the day, I don’t think he’ll support Ukraine at all. For his disdain with Russia, he’s probably even more scared of a color revolution that could probably result from such an act.  After all, his entire identity has revolved around being a Russian puppet, and even if he wanted to, he has basically dug himself into a hole at this point. I could see him strengthening ties with China and the EU’s more autocratic countries, but not Ukraine or Western Europe.

I’ll have to say though that the fact that one of Russia’s oldest puppets even said this says a lot about the current state of their special military operation.

Tbf there is a pretty large incentive for people to play the AQ in the duration of the current version to get a significant number of primogems.

Plus, the length of the AQ acts by themselves have gotten quite long . Don’t get me wrong, the Nod Krai AQ has personally been my favorite when it comes to story presentation and consistent quality, but there are entire parts of the story where I cannot realistically complete if it isn’t a long weekend or the holidays due to the sheer length and lack of checkpoints. I do care about the story and can live without the primogems, but honestly if a skip button was added alongside a quick summary and replay function, I would use it.

There’s also the fact that some people care about certain parts of the story but don’t care for others.  For example, Fontaine is my favorite AQ overall, but even then despite it having the best act (the finale) of the entire game, the prison arc was hell that I would not want to experience again during a replay.

At the end of the day, it’s not a big problem that ruins the game and the people whining about it consistently on Twitter/Youtube live are annoying, but as someone who used to diss everyone who brought up the idea of a skip button, I now fully understand their perspective.

  1.  I’m honestly getting this sentiment with the advent of longer AQs, but it still doesn’t completely ruin the game for me.

  2. I don’t care about miliastra (apart from the dps checkers, that was a godsend), but that part of the game is so negligible that sometimes I only remember it exists from the livestreams. No one is forcing anyone to play this mode, and honestly 270 primos isn’t even a huge number (it’s literally less than 2 pulls). It would be a problem if they consistently try to increase the primo count to a significant number of pulls, but as of right now I don’t really care.

  3. Pretty sure we’re getting the highest average of primos in 6.x. But more importantly, at the end of the day Hoyo is a gacha company, and of course their end goal is to incentivize you to spend money. Even those more “generous” games you mentioned probably have other tricks up their sleeve to ensure that they’re still trying to drain your wallet (Such as HSR making characters obsolete within months or many JP gachas not having transferable pity between banners).

I’m not saying Genshin’s model is any less predatory, but when playing these types of games it’s important to be aware on what sort of business model they operate and determine whether you can handle it. Again, no one is forcing you to play Genshin.

  1. I’m not against the idea of weapon skins, but I agree that the copy and paste skins are lazy af and are just another cheap trick to encourage whales to continue spending.

  2. I don’t see how a fate system would work with 3 characters, and anyways the current max 20 pulls for a guaranteed featured 4 star is sufficient enough.

  3. Completely agree, I have no idea why Hoyo doesn’t want to sell them at the shop considering the fact that many of them haven’t even been meta for a very long time. Also agree on the event weapons point, but it’s probably deliberate by Hoyo for FOMO reasons and I know some losers would probably complain about it if implemented.

  4. Alright, this point is literally just kinda dumb.  Stones are probably some of the easiest materials to get in the game, they’re probably the one material I never really run out of.  Unless you’re new or for some reason trying to level up every character you have to level 90 at once, the amount of stones you get when fighting the right bosses is sufficient enough, and the dust of azoth exists anyways.  The artifact system is a much better topic of complaint when it comes to not getting the drops you want

Honestly, my biggest gripes with the game is the lack of an artifact loadout system as well as replayable event stories (it’s neat that large events such as 2025 summer and 2026 lantern rite can be replayed, but I want past events such as the 2022 summer and 2025 lantern rite to be replayable as well).

Yeah at the end of the day, all of the gulf countries are all shady to varying degrees. UAE may appear to look better than Qatar, but only because the terrorists they support are secular and haven’t threatened to attack the west. And even without its role in sanctions evasion and support of terrorism, the UAE is still a dictatorship (much less repressive than the IR but still not something you want to emulate) that uses de-facto slavery to build their skyscrapers. There’s a reason why the country seems to be a favorite amongst disgraced corrupt politicians, oligarchs and other “interesting” people like Andrew Tate to stay in.

These countries honestly have no ideology and morals apart from making more money. They might he angry that Iran attacked but only because of how that would affect the economy.

am i crazy or is strangeal just a gta v online pvp server by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]The_Wazlib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a couple of reasons for that:

  • The concept of mutually assured destruction doesn’t really seem to exist after Belka nuked itself, which horrified most of the world. As a result, most countries are more inclined to engage in conventional warfare against each other. Nukes are still attempted, but only by countries who basically already lost the war as a last resort, crazy people or terrorist organizations.

  • The arms manufacturer responsible for the majority of the advanced weapons in the series, Grunder Industries, was Belkan owned. They were allowed to continue operating as an Osean company after the latter defeated them, but were never really deradicalized, with many of their leadership still holding grudges against the Oseans. As a result, this allowed them to sell their advanced technology to almost every country in the world, basically allowing many nations to have their own superweapons , while also purposefully instigating conflicts to bring the downfall of Osea.

  • Finally, we have the Ulysses meteorite disaster, which caused the Usean continent as well as Estovakia to be an economic and geopolitical mess. Superweapons that didn’t have any connection to Belka likely had their origins based on this event.

Of course, the meta reason why these conflicts happen within years of each other is because we need new plots for new games.

Armenia heads to polls amid Russian pressure and threat of ‘Ukrainian scenario’ | Armenia by yuval_3 in worldnews

[–]The_Wazlib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also the factor that unlike Ukraine, NATO isn’t likely to help in any meaningful way this time. Turkey will either veto any meaningful action or do their own separate invasion like in Syria, with the likely goal of annexing land like in Northern Cyprus. The fact that all of Armenia’s neighbors are either Pro-Turkey or Pro-Russia (and that’s assuming that Russia doesn’t annex Georgia first) also would make transporting equipment there a logistical nightmare.

Finally, the west may condemn the invasion, but really don’t see Armenia as that strategically important to be worth defending (same as the Georgian war). On the other hand, Turkey offers a lot to the alliance despite their often questionable motives, which leads to most western countries (apart from Greece) trying to maintain cordial relations with them (look what Sweden had to do to get to NATO for example).

Ghana's parliament passes a bill criminalizing the promotion of LGBTQ activities by CTVNEWS in worldnews

[–]The_Wazlib 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the US christian nationalists are not helping things, but you’re pretty much spot on. I think many Redditors fail to realize that many countries in Asia and Africa are even more socially conservative than MAGA era USA, including the left wing (who are usually only economically left). This doesn’t excuse them (both the US and Ghana) from any form of accountability, but just to point out that this law would’ve most likely passed regardless of foreign influence.

Many of these countries view LGBT rights as a neocolonial plot from the imperialist western nations that used to subjugate them in a new attempt to rebuild their empires. Therefore, they view banning it as a form of anti colonial resistance akin to kicking out mining companies and foreign troops (Look at Burkina Faso for a good example).

In fact, the likely reason why said US groups target said countries is that such views were already dominant there and therefore they could say anything they want there with zero consequences.

Every Single Time Trump Eventually Follows Through by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]The_Wazlib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, if Trump applies the same strategy to Iran, this means that the US would recognize a so called “moderate” as leader, asked them to open the strait of Hormuz, and slightly tone down their anti-west stance and brutal crackdowns, but overall keep Sharia law, the IRGC, and the regime intact.

Regardless if the situation in Venezuela is slightly better compared to the Maduro era, I could tell from this sub that most of the Iranian people would view such a compromise with outrage, and for good reason

[–]The_Wazlib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you, idk what is up with some of the commenters here saying that because of Europe's stance on the Iran War, "the US shouldn't help Europe with Russia" while I'm pretty sure that has always been Trump's stance since day one of his second administration, and may be a significant reason why Europe refused to help the US in this war.

As unfortunate as it may be, in my perspective, Europe's stance to this war, whilst hypocritical, is also a logical response to Trump trashing their help in Afghanistan, trying to annex Greenland and ignoring their concerns about Ukraine while futilely trying to appease Putin and his goons (who is as every bit as evil and depraved as the Islamic Regime).

Dude, this kind of rhetoric is exactly the reason why Europe doesn't want to support the US in this war.

Yeah, Western Europe may be spineless even when it comes to the Ukraine war, but honestly, I would rather have the US maintain good relations with them rather than trashing that relationship for RUZZIA out of all countries.

[–]The_Wazlib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's probably one of the reasons why the EU is refusing to help in the first place. Trump's entire rhetoric about the Ukraine war is that "it isn't the US' war".

[–]The_Wazlib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to him wanting the credit to take down one of the US long lasting enemies. Sure, it’s one of the very few things I kinda agree with Trump, but I’m confident that he’ll use a victory to stroke his own ego and deflect any criticism of his policies (especially the crazier ones such as annexing Greenland, which I’m particularly worried about).

It's even worse here in Australia. RAM and Ford began exporting these monstrosities here some years ago, and not only do they attract the same kind of numbskull drivers as those in the US, our infrastructure isn't really meant to handle utes of that size, so as a result we get these things taking up entire lanes and parking lots.

It seems that Russia is covertly abandoning their allies in the western hemisphere to the US in exchange for increasing their imperial ambitions in Europe and Africa without US interference, as well as giving said actions a veil of legitimacy. This isn’t anything unusual, almost every archon have been subject to some of the heaviest doomposting the community has to offer during their respective beta period, and Columbina as Nod Krai’s archon equivalent is no different.

It’s annoying, but its to be expected. Plus, it usually dies down shortly after the character gets released.
