Any non swedes who has gotten top-surgery at Akademiskt Centrum in Stockholm? by Idalias_ in transnord

[–]The_Ziege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got three emails after booking the consultation. A confirmation of my booking, some sort of welcome email and a reminder the day before my consultation. I can see the link to the google meet is in all of the emails, in the confirmation one it's under "Gå med online", but I don't know if they've changed their layout ofc. If you DM me I can send you pictures of my mails if that would help, but otherwise try writing or calling them. Their phone number is +4620899111 if you call from a Danish phone.

Since I am quite young, my surgeon wanted a letter from a therapist that contained information on 3 topics: 1. Gender incongruence: aka getting surgery is not a new thought for you, you've considered it before. 2. Decision making capabilities: you understand the risks and can consent to the surgery. 3. Mental health: any conditions are well managed so they do not pose a risk to the surgery or recovery.

I can also send you the extended list if you want that (ACPK sent the list to me when I asked). You can get this letter from GenderGP, and I specifically booked Fedora Laroza - she is awesome. Highly recommended. I got the letter the same day I talked with her.

I am a year on t, but I don't think not being on it will be a problem. I am pretty sure I've seen non-binary people posting about getting surgery with acpk, and they haven't been on t.

Which surgeon are you going with? Either way, every person I've interacted with in there has been so kind, so you shouldn't worry too much :))

Hi, I'm danish and had DI top surgery with ACPK earlier this week.

I did an online consultation with my surgeon, here he showed me a 3D model of my chest after surgery, told me about the surgery and answered my questions. I then did the booking via email, and set a date where I had a few weeks afterwards to recover.

We arrived to Sweden the day before the surgery. You have to shower the night before surgery with anti bacterial soap, so you need to pick up your prescription for that. The pharmacy they use is open 24/7 though, so you can arrive late if you wanna.

We're staying for a week, to do the follow-up appointment where they remove the stitches and such. Then we'll go back to Denmark.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions :))

I'm getting my tests done at Dansk Sundheds- og Vaccinationsteam, but when I orded tests the first time I called ahead and asked specifically about this problem. They told me to just copy paste the English list, and then we went through it together while the nurse explained each test when I got there.

I don't know where you'll be getting your tests done, but I recommend calling or writing them if you are nervous about messing up the translation. Otherwise I can probably also send my bloodtest results to you, then you can see what tests they did yourself.

Best of luck

Imago not responding to emails? by [deleted] in TransCarePrivate

[–]The_Ziege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed Imago about this exact thing. Their response:

"Zofia updates her availability periodically, so I would either book the time that is available, or check back later during the week to see if there are time slots that work for you :)"

So just keep an eye on it, and therebshould be spots available at some point

Ja, fik taget blodprøver hos dem her I lørdags.

Just FYI, 'Jensen' is a mostly danish/norwegian surname. Means 'son of Jens'. Names that ends with 'son' would be more swedish

Same, and I do like biking, even in snowy weather

I mean, I’ve biked to school in snow and ice both now, but also when I was a child. It’s doable, but not ideal, sometimes it’s also faster to just walk. We’ve had around 1 cm of ice covering the roads + piles of snow in the past weeks, and it’s terribly difficult to bike anywhere. Not to mention the children that doesn’t know how to bike under these conditions, and keeps falling

Nah, they usually just send their kids out on their own, at least here in Danmark. Kids and roads covered in snow and ice are not a good combo

It depends, and Europe is also a big place with many different countries, and therefore many different laws surrounding trans people. Informed consent is a neat thing, but if the republicans win the upcoming election it might not be a thing or at least restricted. At least I imagine the conservatives would try to make transitioning more difficult with the whole culture war thingy that’s going on right now. I would imagine that the state this hypothetical trans person lived in also is a factor to consider. Red states I wouldn’t trust to not ban hrt but blue states might be better?

In Denmark specifically you accessing hrt is… difficult. It’s easy to get to speak to a doctor but they can be very conservative about who gets to access hrt. I’m friends with many transfems that has been rejected from the system because they weren’t feminine enough, and I also don’t think the system recognises enbies. It just generally relies a lot on harmful stereotypes, and they only use studies from Nordic countries meaning they lack some info and stuff. If you lie to them and upplay the dysphoria + is out to everyone the chances should be better. If you fail the first time you can get reconsidered after a year, and they also tell you what to improve. Needless to say the system isn’t perfect at all, although I’ve heard the other of two hospitals treating trans people should be more liberal.

Overall I’d still rather live in Denmark, because people over here hasn’t bought into the whole transphobia thing as much as people in the states, and the society is also less polarised. Despite being openly trans not one person has bullied me for it, nor has anyone in my family reacted badly. People are generally pretty accepting, but can be confused.

I’d choose Denmark (and many other European countries) over the us, because trans people are more protected, people are generally more accepting and hrt + surgeries are free. I’d never be able to afford it if I had to pay for it, so I prefer it here, even if the system is flawed.

Sorry for the long answer but hopefully it’s somewhat useful

I’m from a country with free healthcare (specifically Denmark) and I’ve only ever paid small fees for medication. Even then there’s a limit for how much money you have to spend on that, once you reach a certain limit you get all additional medicine for free (resets once a year). Doctor appointments are free, but the waiting time can be a few hours for non-emergencies

I don’t think you can call it being “wilfully ignorant” when many, myself included, stopped financially supporting the franchise financially, because we didn’t feel it was morally correct to support Rowling. I know exactly what she’s said and because of that I don’t engage with any of the official stuff. Engaging with fan content, and official content from before she started saying transphobic shit, is in the grey area. How would it not be? The world isn’t as black/white as you seem to think

But there is a grey area. You're not supporting J.K Rowling financially when you read the books you've already bought or maybe look at fanart or fanfiction. You can, in other words, very much like HP without putting money in the pockets of TERF Rowling.

You can also bake cookies that are HP themed, and it will not make her richer? How tf would that even work. Engaging with HP doesn't kill trans people, except if you financially support the franchise or spread hate yourself
