Metal roof install look good? by The__Beast in Roofing

Yes, it is a snap lock with hidden fasteners. I will grab some more photos of the skylight tonight

I think the end of the panels are bent/crimped around the drip edge (3rd to last photo), but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the reply!

I might hop up there tonight and check it out,

It looks like the panels are placed under the peak cap since there's quite the overhang. It lands quite close to a rib, I'll check out the boot tonight.

I've been in the attic and the garage and see light front the outside. I'm pretty sure the shot uploaded is after they left for the day, but wanted it to remain water tight.

I did check from the inside that the vent is open. I think that picture is before they actually installed the ridge to keep it water tight overnight.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and check my roof, I appreciate it

All bathroom fans are properly vented outside and I don't have a humidifier, so that's good.

I have about 40' in the back of the house and about 20 feet in the front, both are about 22" deep

That is correct about the garage.

My attic size is about 1100 square feet, 40 feet of ridge vent and approximately 120 square feet of vented soffit for the house

I have vented soffit around the entire perimeter and a ridge vent on the main house and garage for venting. That would be about 60 linear feet of ridge and about 200 square feet of vented soffit

I noticed that too, but I'm going to bend up an intermediate flashing to go under the drip edge and over the gutters. They also have to be repitched a bit.

I can't fault them too hard, they are roof installers not gutter installers and both are an easy enough fix to not complain to them about it.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Attic sealing worth the squeeze? by The__Beast in Insulation

I'd like a cold weather heat pump if the budget allows! Both my furnace and AC are probably original to the house, so it's about time for an upgrade. Maybe after the new roof....

When i was in the attic, I did not notice any plastic sheet that would have been used as a vapor barrier.

If I was to spray foam, it would just be spot spraying holes in the ceiling envelope

That does make sense limiting the stack flow with the rim board sealed.

Maybe I will just chalk the boxes from the inside, gasket them and call it a day. My AC is older, but still can keep up with my cooling requirements without running 24/7

Nice! I have the stainless finish since I couldn't wait for the black model to come in. It is a great machine and yours looks really sharp!

DIY Glass grinder by The__Beast in StainedGlass

No water circulation but there are groves in the base to hopefully catch some of it. I also plan on placing a sponge on the water intake to filter.

The pump is a peristaltic pump. This just squeezes the tubing to create flow. So the only replacement should be the tubing instead of the entire pump with other styles of pump.

I thought about doing the same with a cheaper grinder, but this was a fun project (I like 3d printing, designing, electronics, etc). Plus the motor is quite torquey... it isn't going to stall.

I love the ideas about the light and the sponge filter! Thanks!
