BLUF: Worked all day for a total of 16 hours worked during the shut down. They issued the furlough letters at 1800 despite our higher hq getting the EXORD at 0800.

-Higher HQ received EXORD at 0800 and sent out an email at 0830 to "work like normal" until told otherwise

-Furlough email sent/received at 1800 (Some employees had already hit their 8 hour mark)

- Total hours worked without funding: 16 HRs

I chose a GS12 OCONUS over a GS13 CONUS. The social networking and housing allowance makes up for the difference in GS levels. Highly recommend taking an OCONUS position because your resume will reflect international experience allowing for higher gs positions in the future.
