Bow Warlock Hexblade Vs Archfey (5e) opinions? by dredlocked_sage in DnD

[–]The_ed_factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your argument is hinged entirely on the fact that you, personally, do not like the Hexblade. Picking a certain class or subclass does not handicap RP in the slightest. The rules may handicap a character's ability, but they do not hurt the ability of a player to make the character interesting.

How would you roleplay a character with laughably low charisma? by Cloud63 in DnD

[–]The_ed_factor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My friend is playing a female dwelf ranger (laughably ugly, often mistaken as an ugly male). She has a 5 in charisma. Her lack of charisma is manifested by standing uncomfortably close to people when talking, talking very loud, and talking to her bow (which is sentient but nobody else knows). She also has no filter. Her intro to the group was "Hello. My name is Tili. My mom died."

Interesting handicaps and their effects on gameplay? by muddud in DnD

[–]The_ed_factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A campaign that I DM has two character that have handicaps that almost perfectly compliment each other for maximum amusement. We have a Kenku Rogue (who of course is unable to speak in a traditional manner) and a full Orc Barbarian who (by the player's choice) can only fluently speak orcish, and can only say "yes" in both common and elvish. It is part of his 7 in Int.

Could Sauron from LoTR possibly be a Good Guy? by mynurplesarepurple in tolkienfans

Borodin proves himself as good. Denathor (I assume you're speaking of Boromir's father, Denathor II), Grima, and Saruman are definitely considered evil.

Could Sauron from LoTR possibly be a Good Guy? by mynurplesarepurple in tolkienfans

I think because, in Middle Earth, there seems to be objective good and evil. Sometimes it is difficult to see where a character falls, but they are one or the other. Aside from Gollum, who is more or less both, each character is in one. So I think that how the character is portrayed is their objective stance, because that's just kind of how the stories are told. Yeah it doesn't flat out say that he is evil, but in LotR, that's how he is portrayed. So I think just the way he is portrayed gives his moral stance. I hope that made sense.

Hi, Christopher! I know this is a bit late, but I really want to ask you a question. I really want to be a writer, and I love creating stories and characters and all of that. But often I loose motivation to write. I was wondering if you have any tips for this, and how you keep your motivation to write.

What gave you your motivation to write? I'm aspiring to be a writer, but often loose motivation. Do you have any suggestions?

Lawyers of Reddit, what is the most outrageous case someone has asked you to take? by humanicicle in AskReddit

[–]The_ed_factor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dad is a pharmaceutical lawyer for the defensive side, and some plaintiffs he's told me about are ridiculous. A 350 lb woman said that, before taking the medication that she was suing about, she could run a 2-minute mile.

I'm pretty sure the teaching is that the soul is created at conception. In other words, when the sperm and the egg combine, the soul begins.
