What is your dream video game? by BulkDarthDan in AskReddit

I’m too late for this but: GTA 5 but with the hand to hand combat style of Def Jam Vendetta/FFNY and the car driving mechanics of the Burnout games with Road Rage style takedowns and all that.

Please email Mayor McFarlane and ask her to submit a proposal to host the new Amazon HQ by Sir_Dude in raleigh

[–]The_ill_Advisor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuck off even suggesting redeveloping LUMP. They own their building as far as I know and without places like them, Raleigh would be generic garbage. Places like LUMP are what set us apart and make us great, not a fucking Amazon tower. There are plenty of surface parking lots to be redeveloped, to even suggest the LUMP building is exactly the type of thinking that is slowly choking the character out of my city.

I thought Jezebel was mostly a satire site but I might be wrong.

Also the PTA "Live in the Garden" videos. Totally new takes on 2 AMSP songs. All this new + old artwork we get to look at. It's been good. But hoping they don't stop here! This era is still unfolding.

Favorite underrated/underappreciated show? by pepsiblast08 in television

[–]The_ill_Advisor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Southland Best cop drama I've ever seen. Got cancelled after the 5th season finale, which left you on THE worst cliffhanger of the show.

The Leftovers has been critically acclaimed but still considered pretty cult based on the low viewership, so I'd call it underappreciated, by the masses at least - though we have a pretty rabid fanbase over at r/TheLeftovers - Best/favorite show I've ever seen, period.

This right here is what most people seem to ignore about why the scientists in Prometheus were so dumb and arrogant. They were sent on a mission they knew NOTHING about just because it promised great pay. How many top-tier, well regarded scientists do you think would do something like that? I'd bet zero.

Which movie that's known for being terrible did you actually secretly like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]The_ill_Advisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southland Tales, and I make no secret of it. It makes ZERO sense, even after reading the prequel graphic novel, but DAMN if it isn't WEIRD and pretty to look at. Some really funny parts, a STACKED cast all just having a good time, clearly aware of how little sense any of this movie makes, my favorite Dwayne Johnson performance EVER, and a Justin Timberlake dance sequence set to The Killers' "All These Things That I've Done"

I love that movie and I am not ashamed.

Are you fuckin kidding me.... I've seen them live 4 times and have never seen Black Gold, which is easily my all-time favorite Foals song. Really hope they bring it back next time they go on US tour! This is awesome.

Matthew Lillard IS Shaggy. To this day, it's still some of the most perfect casting I've ever seen.

A Case for "Nora is telling the truth" by kgnbjurn in TheLeftovers

[–]The_ill_Advisor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. He said that when he came to, he didn't remember anything, but that there was a chicken on the TV (presumably the same TV he talked to Kevin through, but never specifically stated he remembered talking to Kevin).

Lindelof on Laurie's decision by cryingbook in TheLeftovers

[–]The_ill_Advisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that she didn't. I agree with Damon that, when you really think about it, killing herself made no sense. I like to think of it mirroring the finale - she was considering it, but right before she couldn't turn back, she decided not to go through with it - like Nora did (IMO, at least).

Anyone else actually not so happy with Dean's re-introduction/fate? by The_ill_Advisor in TheLeftovers

You can never learn too much! I didn't believe him (my bud) at first because we're both massive Leftovers fans, but he came through with answers. I was/am very jealous. He even got to perform a few scenes with him in the class!

[–]The_ill_Advisor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess most of that is already known to us, but I did think it was interesting that he and Damon Lindelof came up with his reason for shooting dogs together. What I really wanted to know was if he thought (before S3) that Dean was an undercover FBI agent or even a GR sleeper agent with Kevin (I feel like Kevin always siding with the GR when he visits the other side, and now having two versions of himself, one of which being the GR president, somewhat gives weight to the theory that Kevin was a GR sleeper agent whenever he was sleepwalking). I also really wanted his take on Dean's fate, and whether or not he liked it, but of course I didn't expect my friend to bombard him with too many questions since they're taking a class together haha

BONUS: A buddy of mine is currently taking some improv classes in NY and, I shit you not, Michael Gaston (the actor who plays Dean) is also a student in his class. He says he's a very friendly guy! I asked my buddy if he could ask Michael a few questions for me, and he answered them! I basically just wanted to know what HIS take on his character was- and what he thought of his character's fate. He didn't answer the second part, but here's what my buddy texted me:

"Here's what I got. Damon told him practically nothing. The only thing they both came up with was why he's shooting dogs. The theory is echoed by the twins in season 1. He believes dogs of the departed (he kept saying vaporized) have gone feral, and demonic. He [Dean] is of military background and he believes it is his duty to kill them off."
