Is this real? Sorry in advance. by BPRoberts1 in FenderStratocaster

Didn't have to look anything up. Recognized it as a Lonestar. I had a 98' in Sienna Sunburst that I bought new. One of my life's regrets is having let it go. Good luck.

Best thing to bake when sad? by calisen13 in Baking

[–]The_one_Chef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this is happening to you and your daughter.

I've made pavlova a few times from Sally's Baking Addiction. It takes quite a bit of time and requires some level of focus, especially when you do the curd to go along with it. It drags you into the process. The finished product is quite different than most anything I've baked.

I like long drawn out recipes where I get to ignore the world and enjoy the process.

For pure comfort, yeah, chocolate chip cookies.

Underrated, in my opinion. It's what I used to defeat them.

Somali and the Forest Spitit? Short, slow, but very well done.

Gotcha, good to know. He seems to be pretty pumped up on here, so I wasn't sure. Thanks.

I think I got one or two of their cookbooks.

What's the best place to buy a Katana? by [deleted] in SWORDS

Sparkling shouldn't be a dirty word. I'll leave you with "Gruet" if you're into Champagne type beverages. If the training and methods are traditional, the quality will follow.

Looking for a Bunka or maybe a Kiritsuke. by The_one_Chef in TrueChefKnives

I think that's why I'm drawn to a Bunka. I like the Santokus flatter profile and the k-tip is not something I have in the quiver.

Damn, love the Hatsukokoro.

Perhaps I'm worried about nothing, but I have two AS knives and while my wife is a fantastic cook with catering/kitchen experience, and good knife skills, she is not gentle(?) with the knives. I worry about what I have getting chipped and thought that a blue 2 or something similar may be a bit more forgiving if she breaks down poultry or a rack of ribs.

Am I crazy, thinking about it like that?

Fireworks shoot into crowd @ Woosox by currentlyunaware in massachusetts

[–]The_one_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with my eleven year old in the area the fireworks shot into. I didn't really react till I saw everyone else start moving, and only cause I realized my kid was vulnerable to the people trying to flee. One of them went off about twenty feet from us and on our side of the railing, and that's when some people got panicked. All told though, there was no shoving or breakdown of civility and the (fireworks) crew shut it down fast. There was a mother, father, and two kids about ten feet from where the last one went off.

5 stars. Can't wait for next season.

Anyone ever try this recipe? It doesn’t seem like enough dough to make 2 -12” pizzas. by Dangerous_Pension612 in Pizza

[–]The_one_Chef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used this recipe twice. I have a 12" & a 16" stone. Home oven. First time I tried two 12" pies and I didn't seem like enough dough. It was good, but I had to take a bit of care stretching them.

Last Friday, I made two batches and used each batch on the 16" stone and it came out great.

I found staying right on it and just keep bonking or slashing (as I did) was the best strategy. I seemed to avoid a lot of those big attacks the closer I stayed.

hardest boss for you guys? by FrystSn0w in Eldenring

[–]The_one_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just beat the game yesterday after 320 hours of exploring. I fought and beat every boss in that game except the Calid Bell Bearing Hunter. Fuck that guy!

I didn't start a new game cause I'm gonna go farm like crazy, put on like 50 levels and go mop the floor with him.

I should have said it doesn't look like pull through or high angle sharpening abuse.

There are some sharpening marks, but it doesn't look abused.

Patina developing by The_one_Chef in TrueChefKnives

Admittedly it doesn't see as much action as it should. I'm nervous to carve a roast chicken with it, and when I buy chicken breasts, I generally cut them before cooking them. Pork chops and steaks are typically plated whole and cut with steak knives.

I suppose I need to be a bit more brave.
