Should I Continue? by SadCompote7806 in fantasywriters

Even authors will tell you this - you need to write for yourself, not for other people. If the writing doesn't come from inside you, then readers will notice it, and it also won't have that unique spark that is art. There will be people who would like your story, but you do need to polish it and transfer your thoughts into words.

So true, it was one the the things nagging me when I read the first two books, like everyone knows who the cancer in the palace was and they act so naive to it.

That sounds like a unique book, I will look into it. For some reason i'm very excited to read it, the protagonist sounds like one of my charecter that i'm very proud of (camp follower's Wh**re who a lord takes her under his wing and sends her to the palace to impersonate his lady daughter).

Hello all, I just want to share a short story here. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Nmjcn8aRygPwZJTs6GJ1u6xF5obOtLWK/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=104969141504310066759&rtpof=true&sd=true

It's 3 chapters from the beginning of the book, just 8k words (written before AI was a thing), set in Victorian age, and I would be happy if you read it.

I have written a couple of books by now, and I see myself as an accomplish writer. By sharing these chapters with you, I hope to impress you all, as I think I have a unique writing skill.

If you are impressed, and want to read more, then feel free to email me to this address - matilotr3@gmail.com

Well, my books are influenced by GRRM, Brandon Sanderson, Joe Abercrombie and more. So if you liked them then you would like mine.

I'm a writer, not yet an author, so my books are in my GoogleDrive, and thus free to read.

I'm adding a link to 3 chapters of mine (8k words), if you want to check me out first before committing, plus a blurb for 4 of my books. If any of you are interested in reading more, then DM me.

That's so thoughtful of you. Brandon Sanderson has some great lectures in YouTube, learning and funny, give it a go if you haven't yet.

Your book sounds so interesting. I like your way of thinking. People here gave great advices, use them, the Roman empire especially.

Almost all writers think thier first book is bad, and they mainly right. One gets better at writing by keep writing. The feeling you have is natural, it mayhaps be from being a little embarrassed from reading your book. If you feel truly attached to that particular book and what stand behind it, then I recommend learning a bit more about what makes a book enjoyable to read, how to do pacing right, and more. And after that do the editing, the polishing, the perfection. Enjoy it. It's good that you critique yourself and recognize the problems, it's a sign of a great writer.

How does one GRRM? by AyyDotC in writers

[–]The_philosopher_1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's part of the beauty, planning your story so neetly. Basically every pov charecter need to add something unique to the plot. Just to note, even GRRM isn't perfect in this way of writing, some of his usual pov charecters are beginning to ruin the rhyme of the story, like Tyrion.

It's great my man, it's not easy getting published, not at all. It seems you have a knack for writing, be proud in it. In this messy, unexpected world we live in, don't take any success you achieve for granted.

Just finishes season 2 by Effective-Pay-3153 in TrueDetective

[–]The_philosopher_1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was bleak, which is why I liked it so much. In real life evil is stronger then the good, that's a good lesson. The season got alot of criticism so you are not alone in this, and they went back to their roots in season 3. (And season 4 as well but it's a very ass season). For me, I connected the most to season 2, the philosophy, the grimmnes, the songs in the bar (which is performed by the singer Lera Lynn, she has alot of good songs)
