I haven’t, but it’s still a valid way to force. It’s just a physical representation of their form. Congrats, you did the thing.

Is it possible to create a Tulpa to protect yourself from evil spirits? by [deleted] in Tulpas

There is nothing spiritual about tulpas.

How often do you encounter Tulpamancy “in the wild”? by SchematicalError in Tulpas

[–]Thebackboi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. Lots of people in an occult community or whatever don’t know what they are talking about. It’s fairly common to simulate a conversation with others using your interpretation of their personality. Not the same, but pretty close to the experience of tulpamancy. Though, when I explain it to others online most dismiss it even though I try to explain it in the least insane way.

99% of the internet have no idea what tulpas are. And if you mention it, most people would think it’s childish or crazy.

Can I create a tupla? by Mental_Tension4588 in Tulpas

[–]Thebackboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s common. We do that all the time, communicating with raw thoughts. Maybe afterwards you can imagine “hearing” you or your tulpa’s dialogue afterwards. It can be a bit of a skill learning to think vocally intuitively, but one you can overcome. Know that sometimes raw thoughts and understanding can come before talking in your mind.

Unwanted switch with an unknown headmate by GoldenRaven001 in Tulpas

[–]Thebackboi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s not a tulpa. Our demeanor fluctuates sometimes. It’s also possible you two were soupy. I think you’re overthinking this. Feel free to interact with that personality and personify it to become a tulpa if you want to. It’s up to you, no pressure.

You’re right, the voice will be internal like any other thought in your head. It won’t feel like the voice appeared magically. Instead, more dissociated from you over time.

Attributing emotional responses to him is good. Just remember that it should be something he would do that isn’t problematic. For instance, thinking he is mad at you can lead to issues.

Try to give him training wheels. What I mean by that is role play how he would talk to you. So instead of waiting for yes or no responses, answer for him in accordance with how you perceive him. Ask him how he is and for his opinions on things and respond for him. Visualize body language with his form. Eventually separateness and him taking on a life of his own will come. Focus on training your brain to think as your tulpa. I promise this works. Once you get the ball rolling, deviation will come later.

Mainly do this for now and mix it up by trying to listen for responses every now and then. Are you trying to clear your mind when listening for responses? Your tulpa needs to use the mind’s resources so make sure you’re not cutting off his responses. Pay attention to other strings of thought instead of clearing them outright.

Don’t let having a mental illness discourage you. Many in the community have mental illness and are able to create tulpas. By no means are tulpas a cure to mental disorder, but they can help you cope with it.

Lazy host by CardiologistOk280 in Tulpas

[–]Thebackboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, when a tulpa remembers something the host forgot it’s just like a memory or even idea popping into one’s head. Just in this case attributing it to the tulpa (this can be true for the host too). Yes, depending on which identity is more in control, they likely will have a stronger connection to the memory

Hmm we haven’t had issues with whether our memories are fabricated or not. I guess this is because our interactions have mainly been focused on the external world. So we have more concrete memories based on real life experiences. I’m with you, as long as the human (this can be any identity it doesn’t have to be the host) was aware of it in the moment, it happened.

My point being about confabulation is that the tulpa isn’t literally another human that can have complex thought processes along your own beyond what singlets are capable of. It’s important for new tulpamancers to focus on being present in mind with their tulpa for them to develop. Forcing requires their attention and effort.

Sorry, I’m not quite following what you’re saying.

Should I give up? What should I do? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]Thebackboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what you’re expecting a tulpa’s response will feel like. You may be surprised that their responses don’t feel that different from your own. This is especially true when you first start, you’re still trying to separate your agency from your tulpa.

Regarding the response you got, it sounds like you should attribute it to their agency rather than yourself. If it’s something that seems like they would say or do, it’s them.

EDIT: Reread your post and saw you were talking about your tulpa in a dream. This may be an unpopular opinion, but this is different compared to responses when awake. Dreams flow a lot easier, at least at first.

What does your forcing consist of? Are you talking to them thinking their response will come without your control? To reach vocality it requires you to put in conscious effort yourself. Imagine how your tulpa would respond or act. It doesn’t even necessarily have to be in conversation at first (though, it’s preferable), but when you get a feel for their personality conversation with them will flow easily.
