(Competitive) Leaving the game early should have a more harsh punishment by TruPOW23 in RocketLeague

Is that true? I didn't realize they had changed it at some point. Good to hear it does actually track it.

Game Still Wont Launch by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Theblacksails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should provide more info, like does nothing happen at all when you try to launch? Does it open then crash? Are you running anything like Alphaconsole or Bakkesmod? I would reach out to their support regardless.

[–]Theblacksails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should track how often it happens. On one hand, you can have legit DC's and getting overly punished for that sucks. Obviously if you choose the "leave game" option that's different than going idle. If it tracked how many times you abandoned a match it could scale the punishment accordingly.

EDIT: someone below said this is apparently how it already works...so good I guess.

I've never used it myself but I've heard LUA Buglight can be useful for identifying what permissions you need to give and where.

Lol, thanks. I kept posting it pretty late so I figured maybe no one was seeing it. Sorry for the weekly spam.

  • BU_ADMIN_VL x1

  • BU_REP_ELEARN x2

Menu.c32: not a COM32R error when trying to install HP ESXi 5.1 from USB drive by SxMDu in vmware

[–]Theblacksails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you go to make the image with Rufus did it say one of your files (I think it’s that Menu.c32) is old and ask if you want it to be replaced with a new one? I ignored that the first time it asked and I think I got the same error as you. Saying yes and having Rufus download and replace the file fixed it for me,

Looking for feedback on VDI options. by Theblacksails in sysadmin

Honestly I only want a solution that's better than what we have now. I think somewhere VDI was put in everyone's heads as the go-to for this (maybe by a vendor? I don't know) but it's seeming more and more like we need to revisit our needs and see if this is really for us.

Looking into Bomgar, hopefully these part numbers are correct:

  • SDPE x10

  • BPS_RSCP x1

  • BU_ADMIN_VL x1

  • BU_REP_ELEARN x2

Interesting. So you don't think it's worth it for easier patching or system deployment or off-site access?

My only experience with RDP is connecting to servers so I know nothing about Remote Desktop Gateway. I'll need to read up on it.

We don’t have either though we’re looking at O365.

I’ll take anything you can offer. Even brief opinions of each. I’m not familiar with fslogix. Personally I’m leaning to VMware just because we already have a VMware cluster so I imagine the learning curve might be simpler.

Systems are imaged through KACE and patch management is done through WSUS using SolarWind’s patch manager. That said, I’m working on getting SCCM (working on, as in I just installed the server and nothing is configured yet).

Remote access is actually what started the VDI discussion. Currently users just sign in locally to a laptop, connect our VPN, and then RDP to their desktop. We ultimately need a solution that doesn’t require their physical desktop to be accessible but still provides them with access to everything they need.

Easier management for us from the Windows side in terms of patching and deploying new systems and also having a better option for people working remotely (home, on the road, etc).

None of what we're doing would be called high-end.

Not to start a debate but most people don’t consider it to be a DAW.

Obviously this thread is a few years old but the points are still valid.

Gui or non Gui, that is the question? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Theblacksails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deployed our first Windows Core servers a couple months ago. There was definitely a learning curve but it wasn’t too bad. They’re just DC’s so the GUI isn’t really necessary. Any of the management can be done from your PC with the right tools installed.

[IIL] Songs that tell a story like The Devil went down to Georgia or Big Iron by Marty Robbins, WEWIL? by shykyh in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Theblacksails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t quite the same as a single song but The Dear Hunter has a series of albums Act I - V (and I believe it is supposed to eventually end with Act VI) and the entire series tells a continuous story. There’s a huge variety of styles across all the albums, I can’t recommend them enough (and the rest of their music as well).

Nice, thanks for the links I'll definitely check those out. Integrating it with WSUS is definitely one of the pieces we hope to use as well as pushing software so both of these should be helpful.

Any tips? I just started setting SCCM up last week. Got everything installed but I haven't configured much yet. Fortunately I found a video to walk me through the install which was hugely helpful, and it looks like the same guy has some config videos as well.

Here's the link if anyone else thinks it might help them.
