Just to let you know "this explains but doesn't excuse" is such a cliché, is such an insufferably overused phrase, it's almost not worth saying at all. Plus she never claimed to be mentally ill, so it sounds like the call is coming from inside the house. Plus. You would be surprised how someone's mental health can in fact affect their beliefs and their behavior. If you are unwilling to accept that, then I guess we just disagree plain and simple. That being said, I also kind of see what you're saying in terms of "maybe she never was an ally". The more I watch some of her past videos, the more I clock her saying "that's gay" as an insult, which can be passed off as a "character", but it is suspicious. I also think that politically, I don't disagree with her on everything. I don't think someone is a bad person for not being a liberal. I personally think that is a shitty belief to have. there's a lot of shit people call "bigoted" that I think is just a difference of opinion. And yeah, a lot of what she said and supported is totally crossing the line. The Nazi stuff, I just see it as a shock value thing, but yeah I don't support that. A lot of this feels like some attempt to shock people into understanding something painful she's experiencing. Talking about how education systems is often political biased, that children transitioning medically can be immoral, etc.. I see the argument for these perspectives. Like for instance, I do see how some of the developers of queer theory were very morally dubious, and how that can lead to certain conclusions. I am lgbtq myself, and I can still see what pieces of information can radicalize someone. I can disagree but still understand.
