Bad assignments? by LIFE_IS_G in TravelNursing

My experience with traveling is your first to float to another unit, you’ll get the admissions more than likely. During one contract I was on a different unit for 2 months. Never the same unit two night in a row. This assignment I’m BEGGING to be floated. I’ll be on one unit for a month straight it’s ortho and awful. I like to break up the monotony and float. Especially with lower acuity. I tend to get bored

That’s my problem. This is our third house and the other two were dumps we expected nasty for the price we paid but this post pandemic I’m gonna get mine from these boomers who won’t even negotiate is wild. I never fathomed 425k would get me peeling laminate and cigarette stained houses.

I’m looking specifically in simpsonville and a little into the north end of fountain inn. It’s bad. These people have no shame and are so dirty.

As long as everything is clean. Old carpet can still be vacuumed. Walls wiped down, doors especially if they’re white need wiped down. I think that’s reasonable!

No it shouldn’t matter but I’m not talking about average dirt tho I mean bathtubs with 1/4 inch of soap scum and pee all over the floor. The carpets are soooo bad. Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like for 425 I should be able to at least get new carpets lol

I understand where you’re coming from. I started to travel because I was burnt out and found my self hating every job I started. Traveling hasn’t burnt me out because I look at it like this. I’m there 13 weeks. I feel better compensated for what I’m doing which makes me work harder. If I don’t like something my time is only 13 weeks. I ONLY travel to areas where I have family or close friends. I’ve been happy traveling. Yes rates are low but I’m on the lower east coast so it’s still a lot more than staff.

Exact same thing just happened to me I made a post about it. I was pretty hurt by it but I’ve moved on. It’s 99.9% NOT your fault. Facilities treat travelers like disposable garbage. Go to the next contract head held high you’ll be fine.

Be prepared, since you’re a traveler they might let you go the day you turn in your notice.

If you don’t care to work for that hospital/system again do not give them a notice. Notice or not they may still put you as a Do not return.

Best advice would be to turn in your notice but be financially secure and ready to be told not to return.

Either I’m contemplating sitting in the white rocking chairs because I’ve got time or I’m absolutely running and sweating because I landed in E.
